Peyton

I thought he gave us good minutes of defense in the first half when we gained momentum. It may not have filled the stat sheet, but he was an important part of the win.
I would agree with your comments (and on the boards).

It’s Payton not Peyton. We are going to see this for 4 years just like “Conner” MccAffery.
And sandfort not sandford. There's still people that screw up Ferentz and he's been around longer than most of his team members have been alive.

Thanks, that’s the joke. He’s also not a soph or a PF. He is a stud though, that part was no joke.

Plays with a lot of confidence for a true Frosh. Doesn't look like a first year guy out there.
Agreed. And I like that he is exploring his game - hes obviously a lights out shooter but yesterday he turned down an ok look from 3 to try for a more open mid-range shot. It didn't work, but I love that he wants to be able to attack in multiple ways instead of just being a 3 point specialist. That will make him a nightmare to defend as he develops

He’ll get there. He had a couple possessions against Rutgers where he tried to force offense beyond his ability/role and out of rhythm, but you have to love the aggressiveness out of the freshman.

He’s a bit of a gunner and shot hunter, but that’s not a terrible thing. One guy on the team like that is ok. His confidence is contagious. I wouldn’t be surprised if he leads us in scoring or rebounding next year. And an excellent passer. He may not start with all we have coming back, but he will get starter minutes.

Yep, but he also got 5 boards. This is the kind of stuff that makes a team good at tourney time...every player finding ways he can contribute. Fran's teams have sometimes been weak on D and rebounding. This squad has figured both out...could take them into the second weekend of the Dance.

His 2 points were free throws. He is shooting 90% from the line. He may be able to take Jbo's spot at the end of games. Perkins is 83 and Ulis is 79. Put those three out there at the end to make FTs. Payton is rebounding at the rate of 1 every 5.5 minutes. That would be 5 or 6 a game at 30 minutes - not bad for a small forward. Patrick gets about a board every 7 minutes - AND he is 6'9.

He should be the starter right now. He is a better defender and is leading Pmac in every key stat:

3 pt % : .36 vs .31
ft %: .94 vs .72
pts/min: .48 vs .42
reb/min: .185 vs .152

And he shot 49% from three in high school, so one would assume with more time on the court his percentage would go up a bit.

when the most famous Peyton ever spells his name with an E, it’s going to be hard to get people to change. Maybe he’ll just have to become the most famous Payton ever?

I agree KF being spelled incorrectly or pronounced incorrectly is insane 23 years in. In his case there isn’t a more famous person with his name.

maybe cmac should come back. A lineup Kris, pmac, cmac, Sandfort + JoeT/Bowen at PG would b e
I think that he will give Pmac a battle for a starting spot.
Battle, yes, but I don't see it going in Sandfort favor.

Fran tends to play upperclassmen over younger guys + PMAC has an "in" so I think Payton also needs some 2G ball handling skills to get some backup minutes at 2G behind perkins. PMAC not really buitl to play much at PF.

A zone might work part time with a lineup of Kris, Pmac, Sandfort at 1,2,3.
