Can anyone tell me why Iowa runs so few pick/rolls with Garza and Weiskamp? They ran one early in the second half and Weiskamp got an easy layup. After that, I don't think they went back to that. Instead, the pick/rolls always seem to be Garza/Bohannon or Garza/Connor.

Wieskamp isn’t great at finding the open shooter on the drive. He’s typically looking to score, which is fine, but not conducive to consistent pick and rolling.

Conversely, Bohannon and McCaffery are no threat to drive, so maybe you’re onto something with Wieskamp occasionally being the one to run it. Another answer could be utilizing Toussaint or Ulis, who have both demonstrated an ability to drive, pull up, or kick it out, for more than six minutes of game time

JBo has shocked me the last couple of games with some drive and scores with pull-ups. He should use it a few more times a game IMO.

Oh, dear lord, I would LOVE to see Joe T and Ulis running pick/roll with Garza!!! Hell, I felt like I was pushing Fran's comfort zone just by suggesting more for Joe W! lol. But, yeah, there's zero threat for a drive to the basket from Connor or JB.

Agreed. My guess is that defenders are just as surprised as you and I and probably wouldn’t let him get those with much consistency though

Bohannon did it once tonight that I noticed, but he had many other drives that went nowhere. I get the sense the opposing coach is licking his lips whenever he sees Bohannon dribbling and dribbling and dribbling and ... but if he can show the burst that he did on that one drive then that would be great. It's like once or twice a game, though.
