Plan your own music festival

Woodstock thread was the motivation for this. You have been asked to plan a music festival. You must have AT LEAST 5 acts, but there is no maximum. The catch? All of the acts must be musicians, bands, etc that you have seen perform in person. What is the lineup, what is the name of the festival, and where is it held?

Uh....pretty much a bunch of local bar bands headlined by Dave Matthews and Jimmy Buffet. I'm not a big "go to concerts" guy. Although I love live music, just not big arena concerts.

Step one: Ban the general public, I control who is allowed.

I’ll just list off the bands in my 5 disc CD changer right now: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, Ugly Casanova, and Bloc Party. I determined this was good vacuum music. I didn’t manage to vacuum the entire time it was playing.

You're the other guy who bought the Ugly Casanova CD

BIt of variety between the days

Amy Grant

Indigo Girls
Michael W Smith
Depeche Mode

Eagles
Guns n Roses
Poison
AC/DC

Plenty more to chose from - but these will work.

Velvet Underground

I had tickets to the Paris show in the 90s.

This dumb ass got drunk and didn't make it.

Every once in a while a moment of sadness comes across me, I think this is why.

Day 1:
The Dead South
The Caddilac Three
Paul Cauthen
Eric Church

Day 2:
Black Pumas
Billy Strings
Zac Brown Band
Dead and Company

@ Red Rocks in September. Venmo me for tickets!

I'll call it HORT In The Hay, and it'll be in a field somewhere relatively remote. One day, 12 hours.

George Strait
Garth Brooks
Hank Williams Jr
Charlie Daniels
Brooks and Dunn
Pat Green
Robert Earl Keen

Day 1
Headliner: Billy Strings
Durand Jones and the Indications
Rose City Band
Sierra Ferrell (who I see Billy pulled on stage last night at Hinterland ❤️, so that happens again at my festival)
Kevin Morby

Day 2
Headliner: My Morning Jacket
Goose
Lettuce
Carl Broemel (solo set)
Jungle

Let’s say it all does down at the new amphitheater in Dillon, CO

That’s the point. A smaller, intimate setting with one stage. Hard ticket to get your hands on intentionally. We want to avoid the Phish trash 😎

Fine...no wall of death during My Morning Jacket, this time.

I will also create a separate festival called Rock Your HORT, which I'd want to hold in a large outdoor amphitheater-type setting. Same deal - one day, all day.

Green Day
Weezer
Cage The Elephant
Beck
Cypress Hill
AWOLNATION
Nothing But Thieves

I think that would be a fun show.

That I've seen in person? I'll assume they don't have to still be together (or alive, for that matter)?

Not sure the order, but...

Black Flag
Hüsker Dü
The Replacements
Soul Asylum
Fugazi
Descendents
Social Distortion
Rancid
Yourh Brigade
Material Issue
Adolescents

Name - Punk'd

Everyone who survives to the end gets a refund. Why? It's the punk way.

The Delta Tau Chi Toga Party 2022:

Andrew “Dice” Clay as opening act to prepare the crowd for the festive occasion.

FEAR - launch crowd into a tizzy. Get the blood flowing. Figuratively and literally.

Metallica - mosh pit transforms into head banging session

the Cult - throttling down gradually

U2 - headliner

if anybody refuses to leave after the U2 set, then immediately implement Crowd Dispersion Method XXL known as:
Pat Boone and the Boone Family

(saw them live at an Idaho rodeo, circa 1976)

of course, DTXTP 2022 may be curtailed by any individual acts of perversion so profound and disgusting …that decorum prohibits listing them here.

Hopefully it's close to a medical center...as most of those acts are geriatrics.
And no John Anderson? For shame!

Yeah, I'm pretty much unaware of any mainstream country songs that come out after 2000.

I never saw John Anderson in person. Not sure why not.

Head Candy
Dagobah
Freddy Jones Band

Are you going to see MMJ in Dillon this year?

Yessir. We will be there both nights. Have a group of friends flying in from Seattle, so it should be a great time. Are you going?

Unfortunately not, the Colorado shows always fall during a bad time for us. We caught them in Madison this time around.

Yea we are going a little nuts this tour. Driving to Taos the Friday before Dillon and then hitting up all four CO shows.

Just hoping they treat Dillon/RR as a four night run.

I had dreams to do the same when they dropped the tour dates, but it's just not in the cards for us. Have a blast man!
