Plane lands on US 218 near Iowa City

The pilot put the bi-plane down after running out of fuel, and it was quickly pushed to the side of the road. The story says after getting some fuel brought out the pilot was able to continue on to the IC airport. Was he able to take off from the median, or did he use the roadway?

Had a plane land in front of my house a few years ago. They also ran out of gas. When I went to check on them it was someone I knew. They had even flew under some large power lines to land. He was pretty shaken up. They had only been airborne for 10 minutes before running out. Note to self, don’t fly with him.
