Aside from the obvious inexperience of our second "line" of substitutions, the problem with the current "Top 6" lineup we showed in the first exhibition is that it almost has too many scoring options in the first unit. Gessell, Jok, and Uthoff are all 1st options with green lights to shoot or drive and Sapp wants to be more aggressive this year (and deserves to be). As a result, ball movement suffers.
If we were to steal a page from the Calipari "Platoons" / "Team A1 vs A2" script, if we would want to mix veterans with new guys on platoon, here's how I think it could look:
Team A1:
Gessell
Williams
Uhl
Uthoff
Woodbury
Team A2:
Clemmons
Ellingson / Fleming
Jok
Moss / Jones
Baer / Wagner
The important thing is balance and not putting too many "leaders" on the floor at one time. How would you run it if we went with "platoons"?
