College football is the only sport where championships are not decided on the field.... it's decided in the preseason based on "stars." I believe Joel Klatt said this a couple years ago, that the playoff comittee is now creating resumes instead of reviewing them. Only in college football where you really only have about 8-10 teams that truly have a legit shot at the national championship.... only in college football where if you are a blue blood it's how many wins you have, but if you're anyone else your schedule and wins gets nitpicked to hell.... Only in college football where they will talk mad sh*t about an Iowa or BYU playing nobody on their schedule, but don't mention a peep about Alabama never leaving the south when playing a football game.... Only in college football where Resume A is clearly better than Resume B, but resume B gets pushed into the playoffs because they're Alabama and resume A was "only" Wisconsin(this happened a few years ago).... Only in college football where "experts" such as Pollock, Palmer, etc., use "stars"(what a kid did in highschool) to justify why a team is better
Imagine if college basketball did this, of freaking course Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, etc would have a lot more championships because they would be thrusted into the end just because they won the "recruiting wars." But instead you have Bucknell knocking off Duke, Kansas getting upset by UNI, Kentucky who prenennialy gets the top players every year only win 1 national championship in over 20 years..... This is infinitely why the college basketball tournament is much better than the college football playoffs, because everything is decided on the court and not on paper
One last thing, imagine if the NFL had this mentality too.... well the Cleveland Browns is the best team in the NFL because they have so many first round picks.... doesn't that just sound stupid as hell?
Okay I'm off my rant lol
