Congrats to UIowa golfer Noah Kent for his unexpected runner-up finish to AzStU golfer Jose Ballester outside of thr Twin Cities today.
Ballester has an “Iowa connection” too….,.,a few years ago when he was learning the game, he played a lot of golf with Celia Arzomena a girl from his hometown in Spain. Celia later attended Iowa State University and was an AA golfer there….,..Celia was found murdered one day in 2018 on the Coldwater Golf Links, the killer was determined to be a homeless man who resided on the fringes of thre course. Ballester’s golf bag includes a commemorative Driver head cover with Arozmena’s initials on it.
It was a helluva match. Noah was never in the lead during the 36 finale, but closed his 4 down match to being 1 down with 1 hole to go…
Congrats to both players! Kent plans to return to UIowa as a sophomore this month. I believe Ballester has one more year of school at ASU available.
