A Polish border guard was stabbed at the border in late May, as Belarus pushed more people from the Middle East and Africa over its border into Polish territory, an act which Warsaw and Brussels have said is part of a ‘hybrid war.’

I have no idea what the Polish ROE is for border engagements. I assumed that they were taking a proactive stance, and as you point out, that could have been some idiot firing and not an actual border-securing policy
