As Iowans prepare to vote for presidential candidates, a new poll has surfaced showing once again the vast majority of Americans don’t rank global warming as the most serious issue facing the country.

A YouGov poll of 18,000 people in 17 countries found only 9.2 percent of Americans rank global warming as their biggest concern. Only Saudi Arabians were less concerned about global warming at 5.7 percent. The biggest concern for Americans was global terrorism — 28 percent of Americans polled listed this as their top issue.

Despite a big PR push by President Barack Obama to tout his administration’s global warming agenda, most Americans have been unconvinced it’s the country’s most pressing issue. A Fox News poll from November found only 3 percent of Americans list global warming as their top concern.

The Fox poll came out just before Obama met other world leaders in Paris to kick off another round of negotiations for an international treaty to cut carbon dioxide emissions. After weeks of haggling, United Nations delegates agreed to non-binding emissions cuts.

Global Warming is caused by autism. Autism is caused by vaccines. So if we get rid of vaccines we get rid of Global Warming.

Not worried in the immediate sense, but the long term health of the planet is a concern for me. I don't like the sole focus being on global warming as we have other environmental issues; clean water, clean air, ph levels in the oceans, etc. etc. etc.

Is it really shocking that Americans aren't concerned about global warming? People don't think long-term beyond their lifetimes. Hell, a lot of them don't think long-term beyond next week.

This is the same society that runs up thousands of dollars in credit card debt and just assume "It's all going to work out eventually." Not surprising that the same mindset would be in place when it comes to global warming.

I could use a little global warming. This morning when I went to walk my dog I had to put on a jacket. Oh the humanity......

If 9% of people's biggest concern is global warming, then 9% of people have way too much time on their hands. I'm all for treating our environment responsibly, but I have more important things to worry about on a day to day basis than whether the earth is warming slowly.

I like this post. Junior thru me a curve. There is no conspiracy to destroy the planet. Just a lazy unintelligent species in charge of things. The most important part of keeping the planet a nice place is controlling the human population. But the alarmists don't talk about that. They just rail against Oil companies . . . missing the forest for the trees. The good news is that people do care about the environment. The bad news is it doesn't matter if we all drive electric cars if there are 70 billion of us. At some point there won't be enough resources, biodiversity or redundant space no matter how many Gulfstream 5 prophets lecture us on the awesomeness of wind power.

This thread is gonna produce at least 20,000 graphs and science article citations. THE ONLY GRAPH THAT MATTERS IS BELOW.

Oh, you're saying....all that propaganda, all that wasted time and energy spent on educating those dumb and stubborn people..... and they're still not convinced, still not buying...... global warming.
Very frustrating!:(
That's not what the poll said. It said it wasn't their greatest concern. That is not the same thing.

I agree with this 100%. I hope we have people working 24/7 to keep our planet clean and looking for better ways to use energy. But for me the #1 issue is always the economy and by a long ways.

Paradoxically I also think this poster is correct. The sky is not falling. We have time to fix our problems. Things are not as dire as they often seem. And human beings do seem to be getting smarter about not chitting in their own nest.

So IMO the future has plenty of potential to be bright. I don't particularly like that 95% of all sci-fi movies (and I'm a sci-fi nerd) have a Dystopian future. But we need to be vigilant regarding common sense. That's why imo we need to be responsible breeders.

Ignorance really doesn't become you, or anyone else for that matter, but we're all pretty used to you displaying it by now. It truly is sad when people refuse to learn and understand because of their own short sighted egotism and greed.

Do you feel the same way about the $19 Triillon debt the US has accumulated and how it will affect our children's future? Short-sighted egotism?

so what you're saying is that we should all have climate change as our #1 concern, and if not, we're ignorant and it makes you sad? Remember, the poll didn't say we weren't concerned.

See, I'm giving you an out. Educate "yourself" and then take it.

I love this latest tactic.

If you don't believe that life on Earth as we know it is doomed unless we DOOOO something (never mind that some scientists actually say we've reached the tipping point and it's already too late), you get called uneducated, ignorant and stupid.

But if you truly believe everything that is supposedly caused by or will result from global warming, then you are incredibly gullible at best.

Here's the list of everything caused by global warming, by the way:

Please feel free to read through all these crazy predictions (often contradictory to other predictions), and then let me know if you believe it all.

I love you when you're angry.

Very sad and pathetic. What a poorly informed nation we are.

Coming from a top cheerleader of the $19 Trillion in debt that as of now equates to over $158,000 per American taxpayer this is beyond hilarious.

Of course we already know from the SYRIZA in Greece what the far left will say once the country is inevitably destroyed financially, playing the victim is the only thing they know.

Good point. Which side hates children more? Libs want to kill them before they breath and Cons want to make sure the air isn't breathable. Libs will feed them, but will put it on the credit card and send you the bill with interest when they get older. Cons just won't feed them. It sucks to be a kid in America, but if you make it to 65, it's a giant party with free drugs. Now listen to Grandpa, don't vote to change that.
