We won by a convincing margin but does any one unit get the larger (than others) credit?

obviously the running game was the best group

D was decent

Stevens was great
i agree that 15 points should speak highly of the defense but it certainly didn’t feel like it during the second half. i’m not entirely sure why. maybe it’s because they tend to give away games that are almost in the bag.

Maryland win happened because

We scored more points.

Our O-line and D-line dominated for most of the game. The TOP was unbelievable in the first half. At one point we had 13 first downs and they had 8 plays. Obviously the defense got them off the field but the offense (O-line) dominated.

It's possible the backup's backup's backup is better. I mean ... :)
Jackson Stratton is the best qb on the roster for throwing the ball. And he was a linebacker three weeks ago. LoL. That tells you all you need to know about this coaching staff and their ability to grade offensive players. I feel sorry for Lester. He has to go home at night and wonder what the hell he got himself into.

He wasn’t a linebacker moron. He was only portraying a linebacker for the scout team. Get your facts straight or stop spouting off. The plan has always been for him to be a QB.

Would disagree about Coach Locksley. He has done well the past 3 years and is recruiting well. They are in a favorable region for recruiting and he will continue to improve.
He is getting canned. That team quit two weeks ago , fairly obvious. Worst tackling team in Big 10 and remember Iowa is in the Big 10! and they can barely knock over at tackling dummy.

So the announcers are morons during the UCLA game for saying he was moved to linebacker and back to qb due to injuries? Going off of what they said. Regardless, if you are playing scout team as a linebacker, you are a linebacker, jackass.

By that standard Rutgers should be the Bullies of the Big Ten but they are not. The best NJ/mid-Atlantic high school players go to Penn State, Ohio State, Pitt, other schools in the B1G (hell, even little ol’ Iowa) or down the coast where they’re more likely to get the exposure to play at the next level.

It takes a long time for other coaches to develop the reputations and connections to get the better NJ players. Unfortunately most don’t last that long.

Defense was solid.

Ran the ball well, OL was consistent and the RB have more patience. Stratton did a good job overall. Seemed to be settled.

The defense played great in the first half and 4th qtr. The offense was moving the ball all game and the hawks could have scored 7 to 10 more pts. Stevens was awesome in the wind. So it was an all around victory.

But the defense has to play great for all 4 qtrs this friday as Nebby is a better defensive team than the terps and we might not score as much.

But I hope things roll for the hawks and they put a whoopin on the bugeaters

He played LBkr on the scout team probably because they needed a body there. He has always been a qb and came here to be a qb. You and several others think that being on the scout team at a different position means the player is moved to that position. I doubt a fairly thin, 6 ft 4 inch QB is going to be a Lbkr

I doubt he was changed to be a Lbkr after Lester travelled to watch STratton pass the ball or or invited

Stevens’ kicking was outstanding but his tackle on the kickoff return had to make Phil Parker proud.
I think Steven's tackle juiced up the defense also because it happened right into the Defensive group on the sideline.

The defense had a poor 3rd qtr with taking bad angles and poor tackling, some high tackles that should have been down low

Because we suck….we were actually trying to lose & accidentally won 🤷‍♂️

Well, before this season he had won 3 Bowl games in a row. He has developed good offensive teams, they just need to get better defensively.

Maryland and lame duck coach didn't show up ... neither did any fans. What a joke. Nice conference. That game should been canceled. But Hawks are good at these kind of games, the ones no one cares about.

Every team is good at those kind of games!

Except Debbie. Seven losing seasons in a row.

Because along with typically playing great defense and special teams, Ferentz creates a great culture within the team year in and year out. This is why Iowa wins 7 or more games virtually every single year since 2001.

He sucks and his teams don't improve. He's never had a winning B1G record. He's 1-7 this year in B1G play this year. He's lost 4 straight games by 14 or more points and 6 of the last 7 by 14 or more.

2023 they lost 5 of their last 7 regular season games.

2022 they lost 3 of their last 4 regular season games.

2021 they lost 3 of their last 4 regular season games.

His teams lack culture and can't compete in November when being able to deal with adversity seem to be highest.

You should have seen his New Mexico teams ca. 2010. Woof.

All I can say is that UMD fans are apathetic, at least when it comes to football. They have too many resources to be this mediocre at football - plenty of talent to draw from on the East Coast, not to mention Ohio and North Carolina are within driving distance. They even have Under Armour in their back pocket (it's not Nike money, but it's nothing to sneeze at). 20+ years ago, I thought UMD was going to be a perennial ACC power under Ralph Friedgen as he had some pretty damn good teams in the early 00s, but then around 2004 they began rattling off a bunch of sucky seasons with maybe one or two decent ones sprinkled in before they finally gave the Fridge the ol' heave-ho after 2010.

Coach Locks will almost certainly be around for 2025. Unless they totally implode next season, his buns won't be remotely toasty this time next year.
