Poll: You get to send one guy packing. Fran or Dolph?

If one guy had to hit the road for good who do you pick? Fran or Dolph

Personally it’s Fran. The guy is an okay coach, but his antics and his behavior is over the top. He gets upset when the media questions his coaching and he acts like a baby at times and loses control of his emotions during close games.

All he had to say was “it’s over we’ve moved on” instead he throws his own little comment on top of it.

If we lose 2 or 3 of the next games, watch Fran spin this is as a distraction.

Dolph can go! He can continue his moonlighting jobs being an advocate in local radio commercials.

Both Barta and Fran handled this matter very poorly. They turned a very minor incident into a major cluster f%*k!

If only Barta had held Fran to the same conduct and work performance standards as Dolph.

Past events with these two men, Barta (previous mishandling of HR matters) and Fran (poor performance and conduct issues), should have caused the two to exercise some grace and humility when handling the Doplh matter. Apparently neither guy has learned anything.

Barta is the obvious answer but I cannot find him on the list....
Would take BIG broom to SWEEP all of them OUT. Start at top. Prez or several regents.Gold+ Power run Iowa Sports. Big Game tonight Ptc Jbo as always. Hawk players cool.

I've never seen so much support for Dolphin. He always gets bashed, even a current on on the football board. When he screws up, and he did, now he's the one thing the university needs above the coaches?

Still another really stupid thread. Hawks win tonight, and they are a top 10 team off to the best start in a while.

Some of the best coaches also do the same thing....I bet you won't be saying the same thing when he's hits 20+ wins this year.

Everyone hates on Dolph's ability to call a game but all of a sudden he's a hero once he gets caught bashing a student athlete.

Odd.
That's just not true. Plenty of people didn't like his comments and felt the 2 game suspension was justified. What most people have a problem with is making a mountain out of a molehill from Fran and Barta(especially Barta) . Fran is having his I'm a man I'm 40 moment. Can't blame someone for defending his player.

Comparing Fran's comments yesterday to Gundy's is absolutely absurd.

How did Fran handle it poorly?
Completely agree. Fran admitted (honestly) that the comment was disappointing and said they're now moving forward.

Barta is staying behind the scenes and letting Fran take the heat on this.

This is why coaches ususlly default to coach speak. Very few really want to hear Fran's honest and understandable opinion that those personal criticisms hurt. Did people really not expect him to stick up for his player? If so, you don't know Fran very well.

Some still don't like Fran for old history, and this situation is confirmation bias for them.

You forgot to put your name in there.

There's no place for that kind of question.

Move on

This is exactly the place for a question like this.

By the way, did you enjoy watching the typical pant crapping session tonight that Fran has become so good at?

I have many fond memories of Dolph doing play-by-play but retirement has to be close in his future. Zabel had a better feel of when it was a better time to move on.

Affirm that the player is a good person and giving great effort. Leave it at that. Instead he went after Dolph. The classy thing would have been to just let it go.
no Fran had EVERY RIGHT to go after Dolph as Dolph attacked and singled out Dailey, yeah right Dolph is a true Hawk. BS

After that piss poor effort against a weak overmatched Wisconsin team last night, it is time to move on from Fran, imo. Iowa reached their pinnacle as a program under Fran a few years ago, and is sliding back into irrelevancy just like they were when Lickloser was at Iowa.

Not sure why such the hatred for Fran, especially right now. I really enjoy watching this years team and thought last night was a great game and the team showed some grit. We also have only one Senior on the team, I know Cook wants to declare early but don't think he should. Dribbling, defense and passing have improved drastically- if he can develop even a decent jump shot- he probably is 1st rounder.....I don't think he is 1st rounder this year honestly

The guy that broke a chair on sidelines is the guy having the biggest fit about what is acceptable. If you read the player's comments, they hear a lot worse stuff on twitter and Dolph's comments were mostly criticizing Fran's recruiting.

Barta screwed this up with the “ongoing issues” comment . Just dumb. Fran is a snowflake and doesn’t like to be criticized by anyone. The recruiting comment got his goat more then the Dailey comment. I’m fine with will Fran defending his player but he went over the top. Should have made a simple comment in support of Dailey and said he would let barta take care of it since he had more important things to focus on like the Wisconsin game. Done. Period.

Seems to me Fran can’t let anything go and move on. Everything builds and builds until he blows a gasket. I don’t think Dolph is a great play by play person. Equally, I don’t see Fran as a great coach. However neither are bad and I feel both love the hawks.

Fran ain’t going anywhere with the contract Barta gifted to him be last season. I just hope if this team has a flop like most of Fran’s other teams, they don’t try to make Dolph a scapegoat but I could see it happen.

Finally, the issues haven’t been Dolph, Fran, Kirk, etc, it’s Barta letting these things get out of control and not holding no one other then a play by play accountable.

when did Fran break this chair?

Fran has every right to defend his players and that IS EXACTLY WHAT HE DID.

Dailey was called on the air and Dolph rightfully got called out for it.
