Prediction: Art Briles to USC

Regardless of where he ends up I'd bet even money that we'll see Kendal Briles ride in on daddy's coattails.

If Briles isn't persona non grata, I don't know what it would take to earn that distinction. He would be a pretty tough sell to any Board of Regents, wouldn't he?

Houston when Herman jumps to a blue blood
Houston is one of those programs that could keep an elite coach. Great recruiting grounds. They might spend the money to keep him and he could elevate a program like Houston. Especially if they end up in a P5 conference.

That would be pretty interesting if they did especially if Houston gets big 12 offer. Unless LSU beats Bama and wins the west I think Herman takes over for Miles at LSU.

I'm not so sure Briles is an upgrade over Les Miles. He's a brilliant offensive mind, but he has to score 45 points to beat his opponents in a league where defense is optional. Unless he's serious about hiring a top-notch DC and deferring all defensive decisions, LSU would probably end up at the same destination (bunch of 9-3, 10-2 type seasons), but using an alternate route to get there.

Larry Fedora is milking the NC cow pretty good. If LSU can lure both him and Chizik (don't snicker, he's respectable as a coordinator) to Baton Rouge, they can go even further as they're much more FB-oriented (and they can hog all the LA talent to themselves. NC has a similar amount of HS FB talent, but there's several in-state schools to choose from, and many of them leave for SEC schools anyway).

Briles would at least have a good QB in Baton Rouge. Something they've been lacking since the last time they played Iowa. When you have a good QB you have a chance.

If they want to beat Alabama, yes they will need a real QB. Although LSU's O and D lines have just as much NFL talent as Alabama's (and possibly more), they don't perform at the same level in college. The amount of production Alabama gets in the trenches is insane.

They've had Matt Flynn and Mettenberger since we've played them, both have started in the NFL.. there's been other solid quarterbacks like Jeffries.

Mettenberger was injured and didn't start the last time LSU played Iowa. LSU's QB play has been bad ever since.

You read it here first...... USC will be preseason ranked the next 5 years, by the end of the year always out of the top 25.
