There was a report, earlier this week, that the Holiday Bowl wanted to select Iowa, bypassing Northwestern and Michigan State, presumably.
In that report, it said that Jim Delany was considering lobbying the Holiday Bowl not to take Iowa and take Northwestern, instead.

Per Teddy Greenstein, Chicago Tribute writer, who we've known for years covering the Big 10) said about 6 hours ago, that Jim Delany did NOT call the Holiday Bowl to lobby for 9-3 Northwestern over 7-5 Iowa.
Per Delany, "the bowls pick who they want within the, mainly 5 teams in 6 year framework."

Gary Barta, on whether Delany called a bowl to lobby for/against another team, and his answer was "My answer, I'm certain it's no. He doesn't do that. If he did, I wouldn't be aware of it. I'm confident that he's not going that."

Looks like San Diego, Hawkeye fans.

What I usually do is wait until later on bowl selection day, which of course is today, and check Winebrenner Red Carpet travel's website. When they update tehir web-site, it is official. Some years you can tell early in the morning, other years they never update. But when and if they do, you can count on that destination.

A beautiful winter destination to warm up in for my fellow Hawks. No one wants NU and their 35 fans. Hope we get it!

Of course, I'm biased, since I would be able to take a short drive south to get to the game.

San Diego is not a good destination for a disappointed fanbase that travelled out that way two years ago.

Iowa doesn't have a great track record of winning out west.

Not good news for a program starved for a bowl win.

That's what the Big Ten really wants though.

To keep Iowa down so that the programs they really want, and will make them the most money will continue to be pushed at the top.

Bowl money is shared. Even when a team can't sell their ticket allotment the losses are spread across the conference.

OMG, Northern said something of value. The apocalypse is nigh...

Seriously though, that's exactly why Purdue or NW would be a better fit for San Diego.

Passing two out of MSU, Mich, and NU? Seems doubtful. All we need is more ammunition for NU to hate us. Holiday vs Wash or Stan?
