Pregame: Illinois @ Iowa

I think the game is determined in the trenches. Illinois, however, does have a blow-by you receiver that seemed to terrorize Wisconsin and Michigan State and even Michigan's secondaries. They also seem to be causing a ridiculous amount of turnovers which luckily is one of our stronger areas so if we can keep that under control I see this game as very manageable.

The Iowa defense will have their hands full
with the running backs of Illinois. They have
some real speedsters. Fortunately for the
Hawkeyes, Illinois does not always play much
good defense.

Thoughts?

I am thinking we can handle them fairly easily especially after today's game against Minnesota.
Overall, I'm not worried. But, Illinois has a tendency to have good DL lately. I'm not sure about this year, but if they have a difference-maker at DT, it could be a much tougher game, because they could exploit our offense's weakness at guard.

(I wasn't much worried about Minnesota because I didn't think they had a DT who could exploit us.)

Illinois has some athletes. I’m worried.

I see a high scoring game. Something like 31-28

Massey offensive rankings
PSU: 13
ISU: 14
Michigan: 16
Minnesota: 17
Wisconsin: 28
Illinois: 49

So you believe 6th best offense we'll play will outscore the other 5? Jesus...

No game is easy for the Hawkeyes. Illinois playing with a lot of confidence. No room for another 69 yard second half output.

MSU scored 34 on the Illinois defense after combining for 7 against PSU and Wisconsin.

Massey predicts Iowa 31-12. This won't be close.

The more I think about it the more I can see it going either way. We can blow them out again or it could be the complete opposite. They do have some key injuries so hopefully, those guys stay on the sidelines.
