Wisconsin has three players making the list & Indiana two - at least Jok made the list - Nigel was the only unanimous pick. Looks like they have the Badgers as a lock this year.

2016-17 PRESEASON BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Nigel Hayes, Wisconsin

2016-17 PRESEASON ALL-BIG TEN TEAM
Malcolm Hill, G, Illinois
James Blackmon Jr., G, Indiana
Thomas Bryant, C, Indiana
Peter Jok, G, Iowa
Melo Trimble, G, Maryland
Derrick Walton Jr., G, Michigan
Caleb Swanigan, F, Purdue
Ethan Happ, F, Wisconsin
NIGEL HAYES, F, Wisconsin
Bronson Koenig, F, Wisconsin

Like Hayes as a player but just don't see him being B1G POY, which is what the pundits are saying. Should Hawks finish in top 4, it will be Jok . Though I know Cook will have have done lots to make that happen.
Watched a lot of media day interviews and clips last night so a bit pumped up, lol

Accepting that B1G and others pundits are going to anoint someone as the pre-season POY I think you would at least agree that Nigel should be in the conversation. Who would you prefer at this point?

Hayes is the only returning 1st team All-B1G. He might as well enjoy Preseason Player of the Year.

Any sort of pre-season freshman or newcomer of the year picks made by BTN?

I'll give you that he is a consideration and I suppose should be a "Pre" season favorite since he was first team last year and will merit consideration for 1st teamer again but I feel Happ will be a more important cog for the Badgers if they are to win the B1G. I like 3 players better than Hayes. Peter Jok of Iowa, Thomas Bryant of Indiana and Miles Bridges of Michigan State. Oh and a really really dark horse from way out in left field, Tyler Cook of Iowa

POY in Madison or not, I'm not buying Wisconsin for a B1G title until we see how they do with a target on their back.

I don't like me some B1G coaches; but I love me some B1G coaching!
So does that mean you are buying a different team or you aren't buying any team at all right now?

Sorry needed to add Happ of Wisconsin too or my discussion falls apart.

My darkhorse is OG Anunoby.

Vince Edwards of Purdue should have been considered for All-B1G and his non-related teammate Carsen Edwards should be considered for All-Newcomer/Freshmen team.

My All Freshman Team Prediction:

Miles Bridges - Michigan St
Tyler Cook - Iowa
Amir Coffey - Minnesota
Josh Langford - Michigan St
De'Ron Davis - Indiana
Tony Carr - Penn St

Compared to his composite ranking, Langford has really underwhelmed in his first season at MSU. He's not bad but he hasn't yet lived up to his 5-star hype. Davis of IU has been solid, but maybe slightly less than was expected of him. I think all of the other guys (Cook maybe slightly underwhelming, but not too much) have lived up to their hype in year one, especially Bridges.

I agree that Edwards and Anonoby are both serious contenders for the all-conference teams

VE ended up being more inconsistent than I expected throughout the regular season. He was third-team media and honorable mention coaches. He's been playing better the past 2 or 3 games.

I think all of them made either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd All-B1G.
