Psaki Calls Election Night ‘Deflating’ For Dems as Harris Leaves Watch Party Without Addressing Supporters

MSNBC anchor Jen Psaki described the Harris team’s announcement she would not address her supporters at Howard University as “deflating” on Wednesday morniong.

The comment came as a response to her network colleague Rachel Maddow telling MSNBC viewers that Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign was “stringing people along” by announcing she would not speak until Wednesday morning.

Moments before Trump won Pennsylvania and with it a second White House term MSNBC senior contributing editor Michele Norris came aboard for a live hit from Harris’s alma mater.

Norris noted that at the time of her report, Harris was trailing in Pennsylvania and other blue wall states. She described the mood at the school as subdued with some holding onto optimism after they were asked to go home for the night.

Maddow said, “Now we are just waiting for blue wall states to come in and watching the math. Sending people home is like asking people to conserve their emotional energy, I think.” Psaki replied:

And it’s not possible. I think there’s no other way to describe how people are feeling leaving that venue, and people on the campaign than deflated in this moment. Yes, all the other states have not been called. But what they went to that venue tonight hoping to see and witness was a historic election of Kamala Harris to the presidency. Was the end of the Trump era as they knew it, and so we don’t know the outcome yet. But that is not what they’re receiving, and they’re being told to go home and wait until tomorrow.
