Here's the 30 year old blueprint. Have your # 2 ready to step up and DEFENSE. 1991 - # 11 Iowa @ # 13 tO$U, both teams are 6-1. Record crowd at the Horseshoe, 95,000 at the time. Make no mistake the Horseshoe's upper deck amplifies the noise on the field and 95K > 67K and believe me, I've never heard louder. We had left Iowa City in a light snow on Friday, arriving in Columbus later afternoon. We're downing beers at the Varsity Club when word comes down about the Gang Lu mass shooting. They debate whether or not the game will be played. Eventually they decided to play and it ended up as one of the great Iowa road games I've ever attended. A little like PSU Saturday, Iowa was dominating tO$U, in the stats while Rodgers played, but unlike today's version of the kicking game, the Hawks were awful. Skillet was like 4 - 8 from 10 - 30 yards, he missed a couple in this game and had the extra point blocked and returned for a 2 point conversion. Damn. He would later miss an XP and FG in the Holiday Bowl that would end in a tie.
So late in the 3rd quarter we're driving and Rodgers get's bent over the pile and he's done for the game. In comes Jim Hartlieb who has thrown 5 passes all year. He's calm and collected, no false starts despite the din. We had a slim 4 point lead and a beyond shaky kicking game, but we finally made like a 29 yarder to go up 7 with more than a whole quarter to play. As usual this is an Ohio State team with 10 NFL picks to our 2. In the end our D and back up QB, Hartlieb, with Mike Saunders and Lew Montgomery running hard against Alonzo Spellman, hold off the Buckeyes in the wildest road game I ever witnessed. You can watch it all here:

Your last point is key. Iowa had/has runningbacks. PSU '21's only running threat is their qbs. You'd think they would be able to find a few 4-5*s to lean on if needed.
