enjoy talking football every now and then over here.. love watching UNL lose just like you guys do,

Every Iowa that beat one of Joe's later year teams had a dominant bell cow RB.. this team does not have that RB, I pointed that out during our discussions last week. Furthermore your OL is simply average, PSU prob has the 4th best DL in the conf right now behind UM/OSU/MSU. Your inability to run the ball consistently destroys your possibly potent play action game. Stanley is limited, he either throws quickly or works off of play action. If that kid has to create the play is essentially over. Your TE's are good, but your WR are bottom 1/3rd in the BIG. On top of everything else Stanley really starts to spray the ball badly beyond 12 yards past the LOS. I wouldn't want him on my team at Penn State, for many years under Joe we had carbon copies. Not sure why your coaches hate athletic QB so much.. but if you did go RPO you would be just another mid-level team, so maybe they need that identity.

Your DL is solid.. but would prob trail OSU/PSU/MSU/UM, but your LB play absent Jewell is several notches lower. Your DB's are bottom 1/3rd in the BIG. They (your DL) are all above average, but none of them seem to be all-world per se.. none of them are even at Sharif Miller level, and I think Sharif is a situational backup in the NFL.

The sched was perfect for you.. no MSU/UM/OSU.. but that wouldn't have done you any favors if you did get a NY6 bowl or better. With a mediocre Wisky, the only true test you had was a talented by inexperienced PSU team. Wisconsin might be less talented then Iowa from an athlete standpoint, Chryst is NOT a good recruiter. You'll face only 2 good QB's this year, McSorley and Thorson. It's ironic but Thorson turned down Penn State b/c we had Brandon Wimbush on board at the time LOLZ.

You should beat NW, their OL is garbage and if you shut down their running game Fitz and company will turtle. Speaking of Turtles, the game against Maryland should have gave you some pause last weekend.. your O didn't play well in that game either. You should beat Purdue.. Blough is the key, hit him and don't let him set his feet.

I think you will drop prob one more game, a 3 loss season is a good one for Iowa.. disclaimer is that you won't have any big wins like you did last year vs the Buckeyes. BTW, on the OSU game last year, OSU/PSU beat each other to death, OSU used every bit of energy in the epic comeback against Penn State and had nothing left heading into a hostile Kinnick Stadium. A tired PSU team also lost to MSU on the road with a 3 hour rain delay.

The one thing that Iowa can do in the short term is settle on a RB and build some comfort between him and the OL. Also, probably a few more deep sideline routes to keep the opposing D honest.

This is the kind of smug post that is typical of PSU fans.

To say that there was a red flag about Iowa’s O based on the Maryland game is moronic at best. There were 40 mile an hour winds!

Stanley had a very bad game, be happy he didn’t have an average game which likely would have put the choking lions down (again blowing a fourth quarter lead). Talk about a team that is mentally soft ...

He probably thinks he's being objective even.

I’m just glad we don’t have a history of child rape and uncle Joe in our hallowed halls.
Always some idiot in the conversation.

Anyway, it was a normal ugly psu Iowa game. I don’t know what it is about this series but I think that both teams always play ugly.
We gifted you so many points and then You returned the favor by missing your wide open tight end and then later the interception. During the game i asked the question does either team want to with this game?

Best of luck the rest of the year. See you all
Next year.

Thanks. There is a lot to like about our Iowa team, just not ready for prime time quite yet. If everyone comes back we have a chance to be really good next year too.

Iowa is better than Penn State and no you can't take your win yesterday to feel better about it.

You're welcome.

Sargeant had a pretty good game as KF and Brian don’t know who the best back is...and I’ll tell you, Sargeant, Young, then Ivory Kelly Martin. Not sure what the hell they are seeing or thinking but it’s pretty obvious.

Add in Brian didn’t use play action like he should of yesterday or roll outs, probably due to the weather and wet conditions, but he should of done more of that to stop the run blitzing to keep PSU off balance. Be happy for the gift that was given to you in the form of a W due to the ineptness of the coaching staff and qb play.

The premise of what you are saying is pretty accurate. Iowa fans might not like it, but it's for the most part true.

I disagree with a couple minor points not worth mentioning and think you magnify Iowa's weaknesses while building up PSU's strengths to the point of slight hyperbole.

Keep in mind Penn State is very flawed. If Iowa gets average play from the quarterback position yesterday, they win by double digits.

QB play.. it's the single most important position on the field. Who was the last great Iowa QB.. serious question. Banks was good by not great. Stanzi regressed a bit. CJ Beathard was erratic.

It's really your system, it takes a great surrounding cast to really excel with a pro offense, even Bama going RPO now.

Banks had one year as a starter. CJ played hurt most of his career.

Iowa quarterbacks in general do regress due to a variety of factors.

Ferentz coaches as if he were playing a Joe Pa team. You, know, hang 17 or so and then wait it out. Damn near worked last year and this year they were spotted 12 points and still blew it. You have to have a downfield game these days days to hang with the better teams. Wiscy and Iowa are two damn good teams that just don't get it downfield.

To stupid to respond back.

you simply have not beaten ANYBODY to date.. if you make and win the BIG you might have a point. Your QB played bad 2 years in a row against us.
Ahh gotcha to come out of your shell a bit there, ya faker.

I don't care who we've beat.

Iowa > Penn State

Again deal with it and don't come back until you have.

Up until yesterday, you hadn’t beaten anyone with a pulse yet either. Better qb play, you still wouldn’t have a win against anybody.

if you want to split hairs we've been up in every game in the 4th Q.. and MSU and OSU are better than anyone Iowa had lined up against. If you guys want to talk about blown opps, I'll write you a novel over what PSU has went thru the last 3 years.

Nah you deserve every loss. James Franklin covered up players sexual assault at Vanderbilt

That happened.

And your program and fans, of all places, embraces him.

Ugh SG you sound such a homer. Fact is two years in a row psu and Iowa played awesome games. Thanks Iowa and coach Ferenz.

As for the football game psu really shot themselves in the foot in the first half. But Iowa needs to turn those mistakes into TDS not field goals.

Psu cannot convert first downs in the fourth quarter and waste away games. This used to be the hallmark of the paterno era.

Iowa lacks big play ability so it’s hard for them to come back in games.

Both flawed but good teams.

Sorry, but I highly disagree with osu and MSU being so much better than Wisconsin. Besides YOU LOST both of them. Isu is better than any team you have beaten until yesterday. Fact.

One last thing. No one cares what you have been through. I wonder if any psu fan cares what all the victims have been through because of your scandalous, win at all cost football program. Get lost.

Iowa should have had several big plays yesterday but wide open receivers/tight ends were missed. Off the top of my head, Hockenson wide open at the end of the first half, overthrow. Fant wide open on the far sideline, underthrow. Brandon Smith had his defender beat deep, overthrow.

OP's original post is clearly completely uninformed. He goes on to reveal himself as a troll in follow-up replies.

It was a good game yesterday. With even average QB play, Iowa wins the game by a couple touchdowns. That's clear to see, watch the replay.

Unfortunately, Stanley ranges from awful to pretty good. Yesterday, he was awful and we lost to a team we should have beaten.

PSU is a decent football team but has, and will, lose to the good teams of the Big Ten.
