PSU talks a lot of smack for a program that should have gotten death penalty

You can think what you want. I'm perfectly comfortable with my admiration of Paterno. He didn't cover up or enable Sandusky in any way. He got crucified for who he was, not what he did.
So three PSU officials, including the President, were sentenced to prison for not reporting Sandusky's abuse. But the most powerful man on campus and the guy's boss didn't know? GTFO.

Hey, that's absolutely your right. Just saying everyone outside your fanbase will continue to laugh at you, especially when you claim other fans are more delusional for thinking they can win football games.

I'm just thankful that JoePa at least decided it was a grievous enough act to let his boss know. If only he actually saw it happening, he may have even followed up with his boss a second time!

Like I said, believe what you want. I don't care. I've had this kind of discussion enough times to know that you don't really care what happened.

Let's use some common sense here. The fans were not in the showers. The fans didn't cover it up. PSU fans are just like Iowa fans, they love watching their team play football on Saturday afternoons.

Their former coaches ROYALLY SCREWED UP, nobody is denying that.

So are PSU fans all of a sudden not supposed to root for their team anymore?

Would you just quit the program and start watching a different team?

Give me a break.
You have a point. The problem I have with their fan base is they view PSU as victims in all of this. Even in the special that was aired on BTN when they won the B1G championship there is a sense of we were just victims that overcame the odds.

The fact that you pretend to know exactly what happened, and that everyone outside the PSU fanbase is wrong, is exactly the definition of delusion. This is as hilarious of an interaction we could have hoped for, and I thank you for it.

You're the one pretending to know things. Hopefully your feeling of superiority will help you deal with your football team's loss this weekend.

The general Penn St fan base is much the same as Nebraska. They are stuck in the past and think their program of the 70's/80's is still playing today.

NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY is worse than the narcissistic cult mentality of husker nation! If a fan base was a girl walking into a bar hoping for a little attention, most would go in and strike up a conversation, some would wait until someone bought them a drink...Husker girl walks in already drunk with their black skirt pulled up over their head not caring if you're already with a girl or not, waving the tag from the mattress in the back of her pick-up!

If Iowa does lose, then they lose. I'll accept it, it's just a football game and in life it really has no adverse effects on my life. I don't put so much faith and importance on sports that I willfully ignore actual problems in the world, like abuse of children.

Many of us Iowa fans who remember the dark days of the 70's have some humility about our program. I appreciate the fact the HF and KF have given us a good program, especially in a small state with another Power 5 school.

Nebraska...Honestly, it's not for everyone....

Nobody here cares about what happened to those kids, they care that they can throw it in the face of PSU fans and talk from a place of moral superiority. If any of you actually cared you wouldn't trivialize something so serious and use it to talk down to PSU fans. I would not trade being a PSU fan for any other fandom I love it and I am sure you all feel the same about Iowa. This program now has no relation to what happened before, grow up.

Respectfully Hawkster, I feel you, I really do. But in my humble opinion this situation is very complex. And ultimately each fan has to make his own decision.

I can't begin to tell you how important the character and integrity of our program is to me personally. It's an extension of my believes and morals. If it were violated I highly doubt I'd ever support my beloved Hawkeyes again without a full and total scorching of all athletic departments and administration. And even then I'm not certain that would do it.

But your thoughts are dead on for the thoughts of many fans. ;) I just wanted to share a different perspective, which is mine. I'm sure there are some who share my view.

I could certainly give up my season tickets, stay home, and watch other teams on TV during fall Saturdays.

Thanks for your thoughts fellow Hawkeye!!

I went to State College for the '11 game. All the PSU people around our tailgate were great. Offered us steak sandwiches and were gracious hosts. Maybe I was still on a high from the Cardinals 1 -0 victory over the Phillies on Carpenter's 1 hit gem in the NLCS.......

I was at the '09 (best tailgating atmosphere ever experienced...even in the rain...the game sucked though lol), '11, '16 games. I'm in the RV lot, so I see plenty of Iowa fans and their decked out Black & Yellow RVs. I love it....and they're so proud of their RVs, the Iowa fans would invite me & my friends in to show it off. it's awesome....it's what makes college football so great.

but I digress....unfortunately, they're jerk offs in ever fan base....PSU, Iowa (well displayed in this thread), Michigan, OSU, etc. Fortunately, the 'jerk-offs' usually aren't at the games, and are just fat asses that post on a message board. I've always had great experiences with Iowa fans, and my opinion of Iowa fans won't change just because of a few knuckleheads on here. I'm sure the normal Iowa fans feel the same about PSU fans.

anywho....good luck Saturday

For the most part, you're right. And many suffer for the pathetic decisions of a few.

But I personally love throwing the crap at the PSU trolls and I always will. No rules in love and war buddy.

But your statement has some merit. However I do take exception to not caring about the kids. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Penn State has 3 big ten titles since Iowa last won one 14 years ago. You can rag on Franklin all you like but, he is a high energy coach with an attention to detail and a great rapport with recruits. He is in the process of putting together back to back top ten recruiting classes after putting together back to back 11 win seasons including a big ten title. I don't think Penn State fans are the ones suffering from delusions around here.
We don't care.........Sandusky is also part of your history, and we want nothing to do with that kind of history, but if winning a couple big ten championships and a couple Nats is worth having a pedifile in the midst of your history, you go girl. ;) Your school should have received the death penalty dude.

I will say I have met a lot of great PSU fans, grads or otherwise. It's definitely the majority that fall in this category.

I always like playing PSU in football because it's usually a fun, exciting game.

Even though their uniforms suck.

Sandusky wasn’t even employed by Penn State when the abuse occurred. He had retired. It was a Second Mile problem but the financial transactions between the Second Mile and Governor Corbett caused those on the BOT who were also on the Second Mile Board to deflect attention on the financial trade offs of State grants to Second Mile in exchange for campaign contributions to Corbett. So they arranged to blame it on the football program and the press ate it up. The NCAA had no authority to involve themselves in a criminal case of a former employee. They learned their lesson and never went after MSU after the Nassar abuse of MSU gymnasts and hundreds of other girls. And they didn’t go after Urban for failure to report domestic abuse by his assistant coach. I’m not trying to trivialize the impact on any of the victims. But this had absolutely nothing to do with football.

And finally - Best uniforms of any football team, especially the away unis. We don’t need to copy the Steelers.

Basic blues, black shoes, no name, all game.

Success with honor.

Then PSU President Erickson on Paterno's statue...
"Bringing the statue back will be a recurring wound to the multitude of individuals across the nation who have been the victim of child abuse"

That's success with honor?

Erickson was appointed by the corrupt BOT to do their dirty work. He was a horrible President.

And for all you who think you know what happened, why wasn’t the Second Mile ever investigated? They furnished the kids. They told Sandusky to wear a bathing suit when he showered with young boys. But no one was arrested, no records were subpoenaed, no one even interviewed. It was a massive political cover up engineered by Governor Corbett to cover his and others’ financial misdealings. It’s always about the money.

John Urschel is Success With Honor. But his story doesn’t fit into your 10 second sound bite mentality. But go ahead with your ped state crap of it makes you feel morally superior.

If the Iowa program covered up decades of child molestation.......YES and without hesitation. There is nothing in the world that I can think of that is worse than raping children....I have children and just the thought of it makes me sick- I would probably kill somebody literally if this were my children. I mean there are a lot of things I would still support the Hawks, but not this. Heck I would be more likely to support the hawks if it were a murder cover up tbh

Yeah we don't care about children being molested, that is an awful thing to say. Not surprising considering you still claim and love being a fan of a program that did something as disgusting as anything that could ever be done
