punter

Barta is dictating our starting punter because of his last name. At Iowa... it's all about nepotism!

And of course Stanley is QB, because of the Stanley family in Muscatine that gives millions to UI Foundation!!!!!!!
Sorry about criticizing your family member, but he just isn't a D-1 punter. That running punt doesn't work well on a dry field and it sure as hell doesn't work on a slick field.

One immediate need this coaching staff needs to address is to bring in a new punter. The two guys on the current roster simply didn't get it done. You can't afford to have TWO punters on the roster who can't kick it farther than my 17 year old nephew.

Not a fan of calling out college players, but good god is he bad. There isn’t a doubt in my mind the staff will be working to find at minimum, a serviceable replacement. Wanting an above average punter at this point just feels like a pipe dream after what we’ve seen this year.

This really isn’t about calling out a bad player, this is a bunch of people with valid questions about why Ferentz isn’t benching someone who has repeatedly struggled over multiple games. This is a key position that constantly gives our opponents an extra 20-30 freebie yards per punt. The whole thing is just super bizarre. Especially considering we have another punter on scholarship. According to the website that I looked at Gersonde has a marginally better average too. People are right to question this whole situation. Of all the negatives from the 2017 season, the punting and really special teams play in general seems the most inexcusable.

Gersonde was injured, couldn’t play last night. Safe to say there will be a punting competition this spring.

It amazes me how many of our fans don’t realize that the Hawks did not use the same punter all season. I guess because they are both left footed they assume it is the same player.
