Top 6 matchup

Villanova leads 33-31 at the half.

Villanova playing almost a mistake free half. Only 2 fouls and 0 turnovers.

He’s probably going to light it up once I say this, but I don’t get how someone like Ayo goes 38th one year and then they can project Ivey to go 9th the next. Those guys are a lot closer as prospects than that.

High level ball being played here.

Early season rankings warrant skepticism, but these clearly look like 2 top 10 teams.

Purdue is SO good! They have everything to win it all. By far the best team I have seen.

Looks like that’s going to be a massive win for the boilers and the conference. The 3 point well eventually went dry for Villanova. Purdue looks like the conference favorite with their combination of size and Ivey provides a different gear.

That’s also influenced on the depth of the entering draft class. Haven’t studied this years potentials but last year could have had much more depth, actually I know for a fact it does just thinking about the pre season AA’s. Ivey is also younger and does a lot of the same stuff as Ayo probably a better passer already and just as good of a shooter and defender.

Didn't see the game, but Purdue does have everything--size, quickness on the perimeter, shooting... Ivey is very talented, and they have probably 2 of the top 4 centers in the league.

Some good points here. He’ll only be a year younger than Ayo was when the draft happens. I get why scouts care about that, but 1 year difference isn’t worth a full round at least to me.

I don’t know about better shooter or defender. I think you could argue for either player overall. Just don’t get the giant chasm.

I’m with ya, Ayo is getting some good minutes on the bulls right now and could be one of the biggest steals in the draft. IMO he was taken way too late.

Yeah, we be in for a looong night with them.
They had a good team last year, and they were young for the most part. They can play. Good size with the 2 centers and then they can get all over you on the perimeter. Tough combo. Will likely not be pretty when Iowa goes to Mackey Arena Dec. 6, but that's why they play.

Yes, agree. And Nova is not very big either....tallest player on the roster is 6'9" and they had PU down through most of the game. And not that I want to compare really too many teams to Nova cause they got game and play it very well but what Dodger is saying....play the dang games home and away with PU and see what happens?

I've said this many times....don't worry so much about PU, Illini and Big Blue who have big Centers, big line ups and Blue has already lost 2 games to two good opponents. We might be able to steal a game or two against these teams. We want to get better as the season moves on....we want to get in the tourney which this team can looking at our schedule. Get some good match-ups in the tourney and some good fortune and who knows....March Madness.

This is a very interesting year for Michigan.....they have tons of talent....some upper class leadership, but a lot of new players that didn't play under the previous coach. So, will we see a drop in their success this year due to the new coach having more of his players and less of the previous coaches influence on them....OR, will we see an immensely talented team that matures and comes together as the year progresses. I think that they are very good at the moment, but in the Arizona game we saw lapses in defense and rebounding that we didn't see much of last year.

I personally like Juwan, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they weren't quite as good going forward.

Juwan had his fairy tale season last year,.. time for Michigan to come back to earth.

what Iowa is missing is not so much a true big that can score and matchup vs Dickinson, Eddie, Cockburn , but one of those 6'7 fire plug athetic bigs that has a lot of mobility and defend other teams bigs and get rebounds and block some shots and defend dribble drive. Rubraca seems big enough to me, but he won't be much of a rim protector for dribble drive. The two Murrays can protect the rim. PMac is long but I haven't seen him make many defensive plays in half court.

There is lot of evidence from NCAA tourney last year that True Bigs are not what advances teams in tourney.
Oregon took Iowa to the wood shed with 6'6 post player.

Gonzaga had 6'10 big man Timme, but Baylor took down Gonzaga easily because they isolated Timme on their guard for dribble drive and Timme couldn't defend. I don't recally Baylor bigs scoring much other than off offensive rebounds and putbacks--my recollection is Baylor went aound 6'7" to 6'9" with the two centers they played.

Yeah...I get this...but you guys were down a few down the stretch. You don't have to convince me how good you are, especially in Mackey. I've already rung up the L for Iowa on the schedule but you know BB....gotta play the game.

If we can make the tourny, I think this Iowa team will be a really tough out. We have a couple of big fellas too who will learn and get better as the season goes on. Just get a body on them and make em feel uncomfortable shooting the ball. Hand in their face....

Again...at this point I am not worried about PU.

No offense, but you have absolutely no chance of beating Purdue at home this year…none…

Wasn't really an attack or anything. You just mentioned Purdue was down most of the game. Made it sound like purdue snuck out a win they probably didn't deserve.

Didn't they have the top class?
