Push-ups by age: Here's how many you should be able to do

Haven't done a full max of push-ups since I dislocated my shoulder 3 yrs ago, but just knocked this out this am after a 5 mile hike. (Adding pic of female gator lounging on top of a bull gator).

100 push ups in a row from the up position all the way to the floor is a lot to do continuously. Especially at the age of 50. I’m about the same age, work out on a regular basis and do push ups and sit ups. I know I can’t do 100 in a row, maybe 50 the proper and complete way.

Yes, I can do 100 if I’m only going an inch or two down then back up but what’s point of doing them if you aren’t going to do them the correct and proper way to get maximum burn for your chest, abs, and arms?

Just got done with cardiac rehab due to CABG surgery. They tested me a lot over the course of 3-4 months and the number of push ups I could do never came up. They concentrated on METS highs and averages. Their recommendation was 150 minutes of moderate exwercise per week. Given the condition of the sternum after CABG surgery, I don't think a push up is an option.
