Question about hooking up a TV at our tailgate

For the first time this year, we will have a generator so we will be setting up our TV at our tailgate. None of us have a portable dish so as of now we are just planning on setting up an antenna. The problem is, due to the trees we have always had a hard time getting the ABC games on KCRG, as I believe that the tower is like 20-30 miles north of CR.

In the past, we have also tried setting up a Firestick and running it off our phones via tethered WIFI. However, once the lot starts to fill up, the reception is basically non existent.

Does anyone have any advice for watching games that I'm not thinking of?

A Dish tailgater and receiver is about $500, with Dish service available on a monthly "pay as you go" package. Not sure if you're wanting to spend that much, but it is the cheapest way I know of to be able to watch whatever you want at a tailgate. The new King version supports watching two different TVs, if you really wanted to do it up.

I've been curious about how this works. Do you log in some how like you would streaming?

I have not used the Dish Tailgater myself, but have talked to many RVers who use it. You can set the small cube-shaped dish anywhere, point it correctly, and run coax to the receiver (the dish receives power through the coax). It works just like a dish at home would, you just have to subscribe to Dish Network. For anyone who already has Dish at home, it is great because you can simply add the receiver to your subscription for like 7 bucks a month. Otherwise, the monthly "pay as you go" service seems to be popular. Cost I have heard is $35-ish a month, although I am not sure which channels that includes.

I have considered getting one for our RV, as my parents have Dish. My brother uses a Tailgater in his RV, with the receiver simply added on to our parents' Dish account.

A buddy of mine had something through dish. He bought it about 5 years ago and its a portable dish. He has it set on a stand and it always works. Gets all the channels he gets at home and its a clear picture. I think he paid something like 200 for the dish and receiver. Its a smaller dish, but its awesome. I did see where the price has increased.

We use it in the fall when we go camping w/the kids. Its nice cause we can set it up and fish while watching college football. Granted we are fishing off shore, but its pretty frickin sweet.

Good luck to you. When I'm at a tailgate, the last thing I'm interested in is watching television. I get enough of that at home. A grill, a cooler, and good company = win.
