Somebody please explain to me how Marinelli drops from 1-5(which I get) but why Dean does not drop at all?
Dean lost twice though, to Brucki and Caffey.probably b/c 197 is a disaster (results wise)

Intermat has always been rather pro hawk. They moved to #3 in the tournament ranking because the Bull dropped to #5 and we have performed like the third best team in the country so far this season.Just saw intermat moved the HAWKS to #3 try and explain that!
Let me help. it is IOWA against everyone else and thats OK.
Lol we've blown away every team put up against us, do you truly think Michigan looks better?Intermat has always been rather pro hawk. They moved to #3 in the tournament ranking because the Bull dropped to #5 and we have performed like the third best team in the country so far this season.

Their performance against PSU was disgraceful.
Edit: forgot about NC St. They came to play. Doesn't change the fact that Michigan looks way worse than us. I suppose we'll be able to revisit this Friday.
Some peoples glass is always half empty.......You might want to wait until after this weekend to critique Michigan’s results against PSU. We could easily loose eight matches.
FIFYYou might want to wait until after this weekend to critique Michigan’s results against PSU. We could easily win eight matches.
Don't know that I've ever seen a dual with more true tossups. You might want to wait until after this weekend to critique Michigan’s results against PSU. We could easily loose eight matches.
it's not a subjective calculation. they do the individual rankings based on results. then they plug those rankings into the ncaa scoring system. iowa beating the brakes off illinois doesn't factor into anything.Lol we've blown away every team put up against us, do you truly think Michigan looks better?

Yep. If you want to win the damn thing, you have to beat everybody you face. We've got several guys who can win the whole damn thing. Take care of business when it counts.it's not a subjective calculation. they do the individual rankings based on results. then they plug those rankings into the ncaa scoring system. iowa beating the brakes off illinois doesn't factor into anything.
marinelli falling to 5 is a big negative point change without any positive movement to counter balance it. and that movement is fair. of the 4 ahead of him, 2 have wins over him and the other 2 are undefeated guys with prior top 3 placements. marinelli also hasn't beaten anybody that good this year. frankly, hamiti has the better resume this year. more bonus and a better win. marinelli is ranked higher based on legacy.
as willie said, 197 is a mess and they all have losses, but dean has the best wins.
the most questionable ranking has to be micic at 4 given the shallacking he took from Matthews and ducking Lee and Rivera. but the guys below him aren't outstanding either. i get it, but i disagree.
it all comes out in the wash. these guys will hit eventually. it's really not something worth worrying about.
No. I don’t think as a dual team that Michigan has looked better. The ranking referenced is a tournament ranking derived from individual rankings. It appears to me that the individual rankings are fairly reflective of the performance of the hawks as well as other teams. I think we finish 1st or 2nd this year but we have absolutely earned where we are ranked this far.Lol we've blown away every team put up against us, do you truly think Michigan looks better?

If one team can win 83% of the matches, I proclaim they will win the meet.FWIW...I think we could win OR lose 8 matches this Friday. There should be several doozies.

I honestly don't give two shits what we're ranked, and fully understand that if we bumped down it was because of algorithmic calculations and Yada Yada Yada..it's not a subjective calculation. they do the individual rankings based on results. then they plug those rankings into the ncaa scoring system. iowa beating the brakes off illinois doesn't factor into anything.

Rankings (the #1, 2, 3, …) are evenly spaced but the actual spacing in terms of probability of winning any H2H against another guy +/- 4 places may be minuscule in many instances. It isn’t worth sweating with so many matches left.also, intermat has hawks at #2 in dual meet ranking.
as posted by js - tournament ranking really isn't a 'ranking' but rather a function of adding up the points from the individual rankings.
Marinelli going from #1 to #5 is about a 10 to 12pt hit.
Agree on the Micic-at-#4 angle though.
Well I’m that guy. Maybe quote me.I honestly don't give two shits what we're ranked, and fully understand that if we bumped down it was because of algorithmic calculations and Yada Yada Yada..
I was simply commenting on the guy thinking we look like/are the third best team right now, which I emphatically disagree with.
Tournament or dual, don't see a chance Michigan beats us in real life even if marinelli gets 5th.
I wasn't responding to your comment, I was responding to his, which is why I quoted him. If I wanted to talk to you again I would've quoted you.Well I’m that guy. Maybe quote me.
let me dumb it down. As individual wrestlers we have earned where we are ranked. As a result of that out TPI is where it is. It is accurate based on our results thus far.
I do not think we are the third best team. I think our results to this point would indicate As a tournament team we are third. That will change. I think that even if we have a bad night Friday that we are likely to move up to #2 and with a good night we move to #1.
That was a lot of typing to say yes. Our actual results have earned us the #3 ranking.I wasn't responding to your comment, I was responding to his, which is why I quoted him. If I wanted to talk to you again I would've quoted you.
Your first post indicated that you thought we were the third best team in the country. You clarified with your second post all I needed to know, which is that you don't truly think we're the third best team, but you understand why the rankings have us that way. Which I do as well.
Which is why I didn't feel the need to respond to you, you summed your thoughts up well. Thanks a lot for dumbing it down though 🙄.
And you spent a lot of time typing just to be a dick. That was a lot of typing to say yes. Our actual results have earned us the #3 ranking.
One wrestles for the team everyone loves to hate and the other wrestles for F*nState. There's your answer.Somebody please explain to me how Marinelli drops from 1-5(which I get) but why Dean does not drop at all?
#7, I believe.Cass only went from #3 to #5 after that loss
i don't recall him being that low. he's 5 now. who would have been ahead of him?
