Question About Teasdale Recruitment

I would also not be surprised for Cael to do EVERYTHING he can to try to get him to flip. Cael left Iowa because he could not out recruit Brands in Iowa. Last thing he wants is for Brands to get a strong foothold in PA. There is a legit chance that half the lineup could be PA guys in 3 years. I understand that some of these guys may have been available because Cael has better options, but still not ideal for Cael.

Carl left Iowa because Pollard was too cheap to match/beat PSU's offer.

You heard it here first. Tom Brands is recruiting Martians.

We don't want the best in the world, we want the best in the frickin' universe!

Jay - It's not out of the realm of possibilities to see Brands recruiting "Martians". Just down the road from Ray Brinzer's Alma Mater (North Allegheny) is Mars High School.

And on his way back to the Pittsburgh Airport he would drive by Moon High School

Do you think Brands has ever considered raising a silverback gorilla from birth to be a heavyweight wrestler to replace Stoll? Is there an NCAA rule preventing this? The Avg Male Gorilla weighs 300-400 lbs.. with a little weight management and exercise, I'm sure 285 is attainable. Also a 300 lb gorilla can press approximately 1800 lbs... I doubt anyone would be able to have a strength advantage. Likely 4x Champ material, if he can adequately be taught the rules. Potential 4x Hodge contender, due to sheer dominance.

Oh, and he would most definitely be big for his weight class. I'm sure combined with the expertise of gorilla trainers, and the wrestling expertise of the Brands bros, they can create a wrestling machine. Now getting this Gorilla through the American school system, and eligible through the NCAA clearinghouse is a large task, I'll admit, but with enough hard work and determination I think it can be done. Talk about innovation. Just a thought.

Well said! I feel sorry for Wilcke and Holloway every time they take the mat. Hopefully wrestling up a weight class will pay dividends for one or both next year...
I feel more sorry for Holloway. He has to give up much more weight. Wilcke probably doesn't mind because if he wasen't up at 97 he would just be spot starting for Brooks this year at 84. I feel Holloway would have had a better year then Wilcke has at 97 this year. Wilcke may beat Holloway in the room, but I think Holloway would be beating some of these guys Wilcke is losing too. I hope Holloway can make his way back to 97 next year. No clue what will happen at 285 next year. Hopefully Bowman will fill in til Stoll is ready to go. I don't think Costello goes as a TF even if Stoll has setbacks.

I concur regarding Holloway having a better season...and like you, I don't think Costello will go as a TF regardless of what happens to Stoll, unless of course all the stars align and there's a chance that a few points at 285 could mean an NCAA championship (which doesn't look possible in the next year or two)...

Lesnar used up his eligibility.

What I am questioning is the opinion that a wrestler looks big for his weight. That is an opinion and many on here can't agree if Gilman or Suriano looks big for 125. Make sure you are calling out the right people before you question if they have been around the sport

Are you a moron of some sort? I don't mean that from the standpoint that I think I'm so smart and think you're so dumb. Rather, I'm wondering if it has been a clinical diagnosis?

I don't think Holloway will ever see 197 again.
Did you see the latest video interview? He is eating non stop and still not that far from what the big 197 walk in the post season. I am not saying he will go 97, but that it would be doable since 220 isn't his natural walk around weight. He and the coaches will have a decision to make in March. I hope he goes the lean and mean route to 97.

i think we see him at 97 next year and Bowman up to 285.

I hope you guys are right but who would realistically go at heavy? Bowman does not seem like a realistic option. You can tell Holloway is on full feed due to how fast he breaks a big sweat. He might be our heavyweight next year depending on Stoll outcome.

Honestly Holloway has no chance to get Iowa points at 285 next year. He does however have a chance to get us points next year at 197. Bowman won't be getting points at 97 or 285 next year. I understand this year why both went up weight to get mat time and fill in for injured wrestlers. No point having Wilcke ride the pine all this year, but with Brooks gone next year we need Wilcke down at 84 which is graduating 6 of the top 7 ranked wrestlers at years end and Holloway at 97. These are there natural weights and the best spot for them to add points at NCAA. Bowman at 285 or forfeit til Stoll is ready to come back. Sucks for Bowman, but no more then it does for Wilcke and Holloway this year.

I don't see a lot of points coming from any of the above mentioned wrestlers. I'm hoping for a transfer or two in….

Many here can't agree? It seems everyone views each as big 125's. The only argument is who looks bigger. You're the only one trying to discount the fact that they're considered big 125s.

PD3 is available for 197

Back to the original topic, I'm just hoping Teasdale makes it on campus. We've seen tons of early commits change their minds later on for all different kinds of schools, including our very own Marinelli. Obviously we have a leg up since he's tight with Spencer, but it's not a foregone conclusion that he ends up here. I'm obviously very hopeful that the early commitment sticks, the kid is an absolute MONSTER of a prospect.

No chance for points at 285 from Holloway next year? I agree but only because I believe Stoll will be back. Otherwise, I think with an offseason of adding good weight and strength he would quite possibly be good enough to qualify and even score a few points, but at the very least have a "chance." That said, I believe Stoll will be back and that puts him on the bench so I agree 197 would be a better option.

For the numerous people calling for Bowman to fill in at Heavyweight until Stoll is healthy. Why not use Costello? He would give valuable experience and then would be able to redshirt in 2019 when Stoll is a Senior. Then, he can compete for the starting job in 2020, along with who ever else gets recruited (Stevensen, Schultz, Parris, or someone else who is under my radar). Bowman was competing at 174 in 2016 and 184 in 2015. It would be borderline unsafe for him to wrestle heavy all year unless he has added some serious weight already.

I'm all for it, but it's just not something Brands does to often.
