Which recruits might Iowa go after?

Goodrich?

Wildeman?

Farniok?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Given where (the positions) we're still looking ... I would infer that Iowa would still be looking at Goodrich or Brown if we do not get Lockett.

We're going after Waggoner so hard, not so much because we have a huge need at DE, but rather because the coaches like him so much. Thus, I'm somehow doubting that we'd take Wildeman if he were to reopen his recruitment.

We've gotten the O-linemen we want, so I doubt the door is still open for Farniok.

The bigger impact might be the recruiting opportunities in the '19 recruiting class. Firstly, it may improve our chances of landing Duggan. Secondly, given the uncertainty with the coaching staff ... their WR coach may not be able to hold quite so much sway with the St. Louis WR recruits in the '19 class.

Lastly, the uncertainty may help us to continue to get a little bit more of our foot in the door in the Kansas City area.

If farniok is related to the current rt at nebby i hope he stays with the bugeaters or goes to isu.
Guy playing rt for debby last week looked like a ticket taker at a movie theater.

Thanx for the feedback.

These are the recruits I noticed hold (held?) an Iowa offer.

Goodrich
Brown
Farniok
Wildeman
Mapieu

Regarding Wildeman, if Waggoner goes somewhere else, could you see Iowa going after him?

You also mentioned we are done at O-line. Does that mean Iowa isn't going after Vettorello?

Interesting. He is a redshirt freshman . . . but homer says we are done at O-line so it appears to be a mute point.

Cam Brown is the one recruit that I would really want Iowa to get

He would be a nice get.

Personally I'm hopeful that whatever recruits we are targeting that Debby is also targeting will now cross Debby off their list. I think both programs hope to add another 8-12 preps to their class.

I am not so sure they are done at OL. Blair mentioned WR, LB, QB, OL, and DE being 5 spots Iowa likely has left.

Based on what we have on the roster and project in this recruiting class I’m hoping we go after:
WR - Cameron Brown (he can plays X,Y, and Z or play in the secondary)

Just wondering who from the St. Louis area Levar Woods has been responsible for recruiting that has committed to and a member of the team? I don't recall when but at some point he was responsible for recruiting Texas. That must've changed? I used to see him at the Dallas airport often. IIRC he honestly wasn't that effective overall in Texas. I'm wondering the same thing now in St. Louis? Any information is greatly appreciated!

My remarks were largely based on how few new offers have gone out. Furthermore, there have been some excellent '19 recruits we're still after. Also, we offered surprisingly few OL recruits in the '18 class. I suppose that there is a shot we could land Vettorello. The Hawks have certainly been continuing to evaluate in-state OL talent. However, I suppose that I was assuming that they'd largely be targeting them as walk-ons.

Last, of all, there is the question of how much attrition we'll have. If we don't have much attrition, then the '18 class should be slated to be pretty small. Furthermore, they likely need to put a hold on 2 'ships because Easley will be earning one (or so I'd assume) and Nixon will be on campus come this spring. Also, given the way Recinos has been looking on ST, I could see him getting put on 'ship too.

AJ Epenesa.

We like Collins at LB - but I anticipate that he's MSU bound. Otherwise, it appears that we're evaluating in-state LBs('18).

Yes he did and that's how he looked in the Army game during practice. He should be playing guard not tackle.

If you follow recruiting you know that almost every year people predict a small class of 15-18 . . . but it's almost always 20 or higher. I bet this class is no different.

Someone replied with Epenesa . . . but I also wonder what is preventing us from hauling in more recruits from Missouri. Not a slam on Woods, just seems like an obvious pipeline waiting to be uncorked.

Daniel Parker jr, a Mizzou recruit should take another look at Iowa.

Agreed. Along this line of thinking, with Nebraska and Missouri and Illinois imploding at the same time, that should bode well for recruiting this year and next. Kinda excited to see how it plays out.

The only Farniok worth his salt was the first one at ISU. The others are just big kids who played against low level competition. Not a knock on South Dakota, but their best teams would be barely top 10 in iowa.

Look at those who are graduating (who are on 'ship):
VandeBerg, Wadley, Butler, Pekar, Wisnieski, Boettger, Myers, Welsh, Kluver, Bazata, Ward, Niemann, Jewell, Bower, and Taylor

That put's us at 15 'ships. However, given what I said about Recinos and Nixon ... that likely puts us at around 13 'ships come the spring.

Right now we ALREADY have 13 commits. Furthermore, by most accounts ... we're hoping to land Waggoner (DE), Lockett (WR), and if we can land a LB or QB who fits ... that could put us up to potentially 16 commits.

The question then is ... it's reasonable to suppose that there will be some attrition .... however, where will it occur? I could certainly see us lose a few guys ... however, would the number go north of 3? Maybe ... but how much higher? If it is ... that's not necessarily a good sign unless it's a guy who simply isn't developing and/or isn't an "effort-guy" ... Ferentz's philosophy naturally weeds out guys who don't "fit."
