Quietly, John Kasich showing momentum in New Hampshire

While the rest of the Republican presidential field is betting on an electorate furious with President Barack Obama and angry with career politicians, John Kasich is making the opposite wager.

The Ohio governor is stumping across New Hampshire highlighting his experience in Congress, backing such issues as the Iran nuclear deal and campaign-finance reform that are usually supported by Democrats and painting himself as an uplifting alternative to the doom-and-gloom tone dominating the GOP primary.

There is some evidence this approach is working. Mr. Kasich is second to front-runner Donald Trump in each of five public polls of New Hampshire voters in the past month. An American Research Group survey released Tuesday showed him at 20%, up six percentage points from earlier in the month. Mr. Trump leads at 27%, the poll found.

In a crazy year of politics, John Kasich winning or coming in second in NH would be the most unexpected result yet. Not sure if it would help him in the south, but it would be fun to see. A few more polls showing him closing the gap and he will start getting trashed by Trump.

the establishment wants no part of trump nor cruz so a guy like Kasich would naturally rise to the top, or jeb, which is the plan

Kasich is liberal, he has accepted the ACA for what it is and says we just need to "revise" a few things. Then later said we need to keep the medicaid part and repeal/replace the rest is what he meant. He is a liberal who has moved more to the right on some issues due to running for President. I'd argue, he's the most liberal candidate for the GOP nomination currently.

More liberal than Trump?

That's what makes him the most palatable GOP candidate. :D

I don't think Trump will spend much time worrying about a low-energy loser like Kasich. But if he does, I'd expect the attacks to start by calling him a "low-energy loser". Boom, Trump approval ratings up by 4%.
