Thought Kirk was pretty good there. Gave a pretty long winded answer about the recruit that got away and Jay tried to interrupt him 3 times... The old Captain just kept going, ignoring him.
Besides Jay burchering KF's name the whole time it went pretty well I thought. Here are the highlights"
Long way to go, only played a couple conf games, a lot of little things need to fall into place to be successful.
When he first came here in the 80s he didn't expect to be here very long but if you spend any time here you fall in love with the place. Both KF and Mary both fell in love with Iowa.
Jay is a wrestling guy, asked KF if he'd ever been to a match. KF said hes been to several but his first was Iowa/ISU in 1981 and that really introduced him to how passionate Iowa fans are. He had no idea what was happening on the mat but the other 14,000 people there were all coaching the wrestlers on the mat.
What happened in 2012? KF said if you're around a while everyone has highs and lows, except for OSU, they've been really good since 1899. That team had a lot of good guys but for a combination of reasons they didn't get the job done.
This years team has been very resilient, not sure how good we are yet and the margin of error is very slim but this team just seems to get the job done.
Jay called him very funny, KF got in a couple jokes. Jay even called him comedian KF at one point.
KF came off very well and talked 85% of the time and didn't let Jay cut him off until he was done making his point.

I thought KF was going to go with Sean Lee on that one. He recently said that Lee's recruitment was pretty much the straw that broke the camels back and they essentially quit recruiting Pittsburg (KFs hometown).
