Absolutely fantastic group of recruits. I'll set the over/under for total number of AA finishes at 14.5. That being said, i'll take the over

This current batch of recruits is going to be a blast to watch on the freestyle circuit over the years. I think that Spencer and J-War are probably the most Freestyle credentialed recruits in Iowa history. Teasdale has even made a world team as well. How many other Iowa recruiting classes have had 2 separate freestyle world medalists prior to their SR years of HS, and in the same class!?

Don't forget about Happel. He made a Cadet world team as well.

When they start making World Folkstyle Teams, count me in as excited.

Yup, 3 Hawks on that World team. I also think that had Kemerer chose to cut down to the 66kg world team spot this past off season, he would have beat out Pantaleo.

Everyone agrees that Iowa has some real studs coming and already in the room. My question is where do you think the turning point was , when they got kem, the bull? I imagine that TNT isometime ago realized what they needed to do and was it hiring Morningstar or was it just inevitable that eventually top notch kids would want to wrestle for wrestling icons

Just curious on insight that got you guys to this place getting kids to leave beautiful PA for Iowa

I think a lot of it had to do with the Spencer Lee. Iowa basically made western PA their second home at Young Guns with Lee, Teasdale, Kemerer. I also think Iowa is looking at big character guys as well. We see it in those guys, Marinelli and Warner. They love wrestling.Plus, Iowa high school talent isn't what it was, that's why all the foreign talent.

Iowa saw what Cael was doing having guys come in and dominate right away...If we can get 3 or 4 of those bonus point guys, watch out.

I would say when Kaleb Young committed, that was the turning point, imo.

I think it was the critical few month long time period a little over two years ago. The off season prior to the 2014/2015 season. Things were looking grim for Iowa wresting, after the 2012 class we didn't really have much to hang our hats on other than Stoll or Sorensen at the time, and both didn't look as good as they do now.

It all started with Kaleb Youngs commitment, it got the ball rolling. Then within the span of the next 2-3 months Marinelli decommited from tOSU and hopped back on the Iowa train, Mejia and Renteria commited, and we got PA stud Kemerer. Two top ten recruits and 2 young guns wrestlers, I think that put Iowa recruiting back into the minds of wrestlers a bit when it seemed they were fading to the back burner with big name recruits.

Then we picked up some other good ranked guys like Wilcke, Turk, Holloway, Wagner, Rathbun, and Happel between that first hot period and this past April.

Then April, 20th...boom dynamic duo Lee and Teasdale surprise commit together to Iowa. Which put Iowa back on the map front and center for recruiting in a big way. When the caliber kid like Lee commits it's huge for any program, but then Teasdale who is an insanely good wrestler in his own right a year younger too, that just shifted all momentum in our favor. We can't forget about Max Murin anther Young Guns PA stud who decided to join his best friend Lee and Teasdale at his favorite school, perfect fit.

J-War liked what he saw, and from the sounds of his interviews Iowa was the front runner the whole time, but he wanted to give the other schools a fair shot. The first domino of #TheSpencerLee effect, and a huge domino it was, A freestyle world medalist in his own right.

And voila, it's no surprise top recruits are taking notice of Iowa in a big way. Now we hear that Sammy Sasso has mighty high interest in Iowa, well there's plenty of room aboard this Hawkeye train young man! Cohlton Schultz, Gable Steveson, we could use an elite hwt after Stoll graduates, you're welcome aboard too!! This Hawkeye train is picking up steam very fast and it's not slowing down anytime soon!

Lets give some credit to whoever realized PSU was starting with great wrestlers, and Iowa was starting with very good wrestlers.

BTW...I believe I still have my four years of eligibility left ;) Time to get back in shape but I think I'll try and find some Jiu Jitsu in the IC/Cedar Rapids. Wouldn't feel like Iowa unless I was putting in work in some capacity in that area although the recruit video that Undercover posted looked like those two old guys were too high speed for me...prefer the Russian version:
