Recruiting question re: scrimmaging for recruits

is it permissible for recruits to play pick-up games on their official or unofficial visits? Doing so would allow the recruit and coach to glimpse how he would fit into the current team. Thought I remembered that they did away with this?// Anyone know?

A recruit can participate with the team in an activity including a workout, but it must be organized by the team captains and not by any coaching staff.

I remember hearing that Andrew Fleming really impressed in one of said scrimmages while visiting. Not sure if it played a role in his receiving an offer or not, but definitely have heard of it happening at Iowa
