Height was the reason I though it would have been better to develop O'Grady more at the 5 during the year rather than give all of her minutes to Stuelke. Stuelke is going to be better when playing beside a big when going against teams with length. Shoe could play the 5 when going small, but if she goes tot the next level it will be as a 3/4. OGrady showed flashes against both SC and LSU (mostly on defense), but the lack of continutity on offense due to lack of playing time with starters showed up.Need real length inside i.e. 6’4” and above.
Lack of rebounding is a killer.
Unless a current member of the roster enters the portal, isn't Iowa WBB already full for 2023-4?You would think CC and the run they went on would help in the portal and recruitment. Do you think we will get a 6'5 player in the portal plus a 5 star recruit?

I think this is correct with Marshall and Martin coming back for the 2023-24 season to play their covid year.Unless a current member of the roster enters the portal, isn't Iowa WBB already full for 2023-4?
Agree, Bluder had the fortune of the best women's player in years be home grown and has done a really poor job thus far of using the wave that has generated to up the level of recruiting.Unless I'm totally missing something, to me it doesn't seem like Bluder has been able to capitalize on CC's amazing time at Iowa.
The freshmen and sophomore classes don't have anyone that looks like a future stud. And the 23 recruiting class doesn't scream "elite".
Hannah will get better, but she has no shot away from the hoop.
I think LB can get a portal player for next season, but the minute CC leaves....
All these super seniors are great now, but what then?
I know some might take this comment as mean spirited especially when we all know how some women girls see themselves but if she wants to continue to progress and have a bigger impact, I believe she needs to get in the weight room and get a little leaner and faster.I forgot O'Grady was a four star top 100. I think they can win big with her.
We've found common ground. We need a lien tall fast and athletic big, that is where the game is going.
Ava Heiden is a 24 commit, moves really good for her size the clip I saw of her.Don’t they have an inbound Freshman out of Oregon who is a Top 100, 6’ 5” player? Or is she coming the year after? I can’t remember.
O'Grady is 6'4, I've stood next to her and she's just a hair shorter than me, I'm 6'4I noticed the taller girls had a hard time getting around her on rebounds. Good box out skill set. In a reasonably officiated game she might create some foul trouble for the other teams taller players. Plus, at 6'5" she isn't short herself. If she learns that pick and roll like Monika, and she's obviously going to set some strong picks, she'll be a tough low post player. A female Filip Rebraca.
How do you both compare to Jon Miller or Greg Brunner?O'Grady is 6'4, I've stood next to her and she's just a hair shorter than me, I'm 6'4
I believe there was a center last name Johnson just before Megan Gustafson who was about 6'6".Maybe Bluder could look beyond the borders? SC's Cordozo is from Brazil & originally attended Syracuse then transferred to SC. There maybe some hidden gems who play overseas?
Was Megan Skouby the tallest player Bluder coached? 6'-6"
Morgan Johnson was listed at 6'5, I believe. I think she still has the Iowa record of career blocks? Iowa had the Morgan Johnson - Bethany Dolittle twin towers before Megan Gustafson - Hannah Stewart. In fact, Dolittle played 4 for two years with Johnson, and then played 5 for two years with Chase Coley.I believe there was a center last name Johnson just before Megan Gustafson who was about 6'6".
Good memories. Couldn't think of Morgan's first name. Went to many of their games back them. Could walk up to the south entrance at CHA just prior to tip-off and somebody would offer you a ticket because they had too many. If not, I think it was $12 and you could slide on down almost to court level.Morgan Johnson was listed at 6'5, I believe. I think she still has the Iowa record of career blocks? But she's a sturdy wide body, so she can play bigger than 6'4".O'Grady is 6'4, I've stood next to her and she's just a hair shorter than me, I'm 6'4
hmm, for me, i'm not a fan of the combo dolittle/johnson.Morgan Johnson was listed at 6'5, I believe. I think she still has the Iowa record of career blocks? Yes she may want to be closer to home. Makes no difference if there are no serious discussions with marginal players who then chose to exit.Lauren Ware from Arizona in portal. 6-5 and from Bismark ND. Coming off an injury and not much scoring. Avg 4.8 ppg but working with JJ could only help
What are we talking about here. Stuelke/Gyamfi/Mccabe were all in the top 90 recruits. All are only Freshman and Stuelke looks like a future star. Edinger and O'grady were 39th and 92nd, and they pulled in Feuerbach last year who was also ranked 71st. On top of that, they got Davis as a transfer who was a good contributor this year as well. That's 6 girls she's pulled in the last 2 years all ranked 92nd or higher. For the future, Ava Jones was 84th, but that accident probably ended her playing days, and for 2024 they have already pulled in 42nd ranked Heiden. Levin is also 2024 and is a very good player with lots of offers. Bluder has done just fine.Agree, Bluder had the fortune of the best women's player in years be home grown and has done a really poor job thus far of using the wave that has generated to up the level of recruiting.
Stuelke looked good. O'grady and Edinger had battled some injuries, but I'm confused why you would think they "aren't developed". Because they didn't play much this year as our starters were amazing? O'grady was depth, but the post was Warnock/Stuelke/Czinano. We ran a three guard lineup most of the time with Martin, Marshall, and Clark. One concern might be why those top 100 kids aren't developed to yhe point where they could add depth on the team when there is f po ul trouble.
Bluder talked about resting her starters some more early in the year, that didnt really happen. As a result the drop off in continuity from the top 7 was noticable. OGrady added defense, but Clark and OGrady have not really gelled yet. Stuelke played well the 2nd half of the year, but struggled a bit against the elite teams with size. Gabby basically had to play almost the whole game against SC and LSU. I understand a big part of Iowa's game is continuity, and read/react on offense, so on offense the mental part may be more demanding than the physical part. I just think we could have been a little stronger against LSU if some of the younger players had been on the floor with the starters a bit more.Stuelke looked good. I thought that as well. Their bench was really good so it likely wouldn’t have made a huge difference, but when you know your bench has some talent on it and you rarely if ever get to see them play I can’t help but wonder. If nothing else, just to give up fouls in that game would have helped.Bluder talked about resting her starters some more early in the year, that didnt really happen.
