I should mention that Jaxson Hayes is the son of former Hawkeye Jonathan Hayes and Henry Marchese is the son of former Hawkeye John Marchese. Henry's twin brother Michael, a safety, will also be in town.

Also, Nathan Nelson is Anthony Nelson's younger brother. Their dad is Jeff Nelson, who also played for the Hawkeyes.

I believe he has been battling an injury, (hamstring?) so his playing/practice time has been limited, at least I thought I read that in an article somewhere.

C'mon Hawks, reel in AVG! If we did get him, what does next year's D-line look like with A.J. Epenesa coming in? In short, not a lot of natural DTs so who slides inside?

Quote from the start of the season by his Coach. "He's been hampered a little by an injury," Strohmeier says on Van Ginkel, "but he will be ready to go. He's had a solid camp with a high motor. A high energy kind of guy."


Then this from a Sept 9 article: Injuries continue to hamper the Reivers. Defensive end Andrew Van Ginkel, who has offers from Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin among others, again is a gametime decision as he deals with a hip injury. He barely saw the field last week.

He will be a situational guy. I could see him and AJ coming in as edge rushers/raider guys next year.
