REFS and CLOCK OPeRATORS

Cincy got about 3 timeouts courtesy of those idiots in the last minute.
but the announcers said its only the fair thing to do!

who cares if it screws iowa and basically "ices" our shooters!

need to do something about this rule, because it isn't fair for both teams and I don't see how they can really make it fair for both teams.

that said, I can see why cincy fans want to get every .1 second they can.....

I thought the refs seemed to get a lot better in latter half of the 2nd half....they really can't help the clock operator kept messing up.....the regular operator must have a day job.

On the make and inbound to JBO with 18 seconds left, you could tell where it should be by watching it once. For some reason it took 7 minutes while we had our guy at the line for a crucial shot.

Absolutely. Heart surgeons work faster than those idiots.

If tenths of a second are soooooo freakin' important, why don't they do that on every clock stoppage?

where did they come up with the time for when baer threw the ball out of bounds?
2 extra seconds seem to appear magically!

Was the short ref Larry Scriotto? Regardless, he was absolutely horrible and he shouldn’t see another tourney game. The other two were OK.

What games like this show is that teams who are physical and hands always get the better of the officiating. It’s just lie MSU. Refs won’t foul out an entire team, so they establish a foul baseline for each team. The baseline for physical teams is different than those that are less physical. Dr. Tom’s teams be fitted from this, but Fran’s don’t. It’s an officiating problem really - there should be a single baseline applied to all teams. Also, somebody needs to instruct refs on what traveling is - i cant believe how poorly this violation is administered and how many times the refs get the call wrong the few times they call it.

Refs calling the game were good. Clock resets were awful. Awful awful.

I agree on the officials. I thought they did a pretty good job.

However, it was obvious the clock operator was slow on stopping the clock to create a situation where the officials would have to take a look.

Once that happens the officials have to make sure they get it right, because if they don't and it comes down to 1 possession, and they got the time wrong, you know it will be all over the highlights.

In those situations the rule should be;

Those players on the floor should have to go to the baseline opposite their basket. If a coach wants to huddle with his players, they should be charged a time out. 1 trainer should be allowed to go to the players with water/towels and to check for injuries.

Not sure if this is the same play, but the clock stopped correctly after a Cincy basket. Iowa inbounded it and there was an immediate foul. The clock kept running for two full seconds after the whistle.

Probably should be the clock operators last day. Perhaps the refs for taking four plus minutes to figure it out as well.

The clock operator was awful. multiple times either stopped/started or missed stopping. That was about as bad as it gets .

Also, not just this game but this tournament, there must be an emphasis on calling fouls on close outs against jump shooters... so many late fouls on closeouts.

Agree.

If it’s a foul...it’s a foul. And if your entire team fouls out, then too bad. The rules are supposed to apply to both teams equally.

I’ve also seen more offensive push offs called then I saw the entire season.

Worse than the bastards who called the Outback Bowl when we came back against Florida.

Put the pricks in jail where they belong.

It was a weirdly called game. It's fine if they want to let stuff go, let the play be physical. Then don't turn around and call fouls on Iowa for basically boxing out too hard. Cincinnati guys flopping on defense when defending the post and getting calls was ridiculous.

No I am talking about when baer threw over cooks head and into the bench.

As for the refs, I imagine their job is fairly difficult. What I don't get is, how the hell do they not have money for even a 32" tv? That is beyond insane....

no way, that game was straight up fixed!

I'd like to add that I am tired of seeing coaches whine for reviews and the officials deciding which coaches they want to listen to.

Tell the coaches that if they are that sure then they need to risk losing a TO if they want a review!
