What happened to Jim Crowe 2.0?

A record 5.29 million Georgia voters turned out in this year’s election, shattering the previous high set four years ago.

About 64% of registered voters participated in the race, with a majority of them supporting Republican Donald Trump over Democrat Kamala Harris. Trump received nearly 117,000 more votes than Harris, a 2% margin of victory.

Sorry for the pay-link but the point remains. I remember Disney and other TV/Movie makers threatened to leave the state over what the left was calling "Jim Crowe 2.0"

Donald Trump is a liar. But the left's claim on the moral high ground is pretty shaky at best.

I guess it went the same place as all of these:

-Democracy is at stake
-See they're just like Nazis
-they hate black people
-they hate women
-He wants to be a dictator
-Russian collusion/puppet/etc.
-They want to take away:
  • women's rights
  • Gay rights
  • Interracial marriage
  • Healthcare
  • Medicare
  • Free speech (lol...which side?)
  • IVF
  • Birth control
I guess technically there are still nearly 4 years where those things could be proven, but I'm not holding my breath.

How do the overall turnout numbers you’re citing support your point?

You’d have to look at white and non-white turnout.

In general, turnout was up... you can't claim voter suppression and have increased turnout. That math doesn't jive... though I have heard people on the left say math is racist so...

Come on man. Calling it Jim Crow 2.0 was hyperbolic nonsense.

These sh!t threads remind me of Norm McDonald's hypocrisy bit.

Heaven save us from the hyperbole!

okay, but what does that have to do with 2024 with the general election...midterm elections are always down.

Midterm elections are always down but that doesn't explain why the racial gap between white voters and non-white voters grew.

It's almost like a set of laws was passed that affected one of those groups more than others.

maybe the candidates weren't charismatic, weren't charming, weren't palatable, and people voted by not voting. That's just as possible as Jim Crowe 2.0

Sounds like you're a racist if you believe blacks are too stupid or lazy to get a valid ID to vote.
I don’t know what the actual numbers do or do not show; I just asked OP to show his work.

I recognize the point is lost on you, because…well…you’re Abby97.

I have heard and read that some black men have a bias against women and black women in positions of power, just multiple comments on talk shows discussing the vote. I think exit type polling showed this effect against Hillary.

And you had to worry about Jim Crow laws that Georgia was putting into play, laws they didnt have to use since Trump won. If you dont think the GA law to make it possible for the legislature or a election committee to have the power to deny certification of a county's vote, like Fulton county then I am sorry you cant logic that out.

I was happy Joe Biden won in 2020.

But as a Georgia resident, who watch the Georgia Republican Governor and Elections officials face down Trump directly in his demands to overturn the election, one of the few Republican elected officials with the balls to do so...Biden's actions around this fully radicalized me against his administration...

It was 100% bullshit, and it wasn't just in retrospect. It was bullshit on the face of it at the time. It was a total lie for some political gain.

And it turns out, it was typical terrible political instincts from the Biden administration. Nobody in the public bought into this, or gave a shit about this issue. He accomplished nothing for his team, and it won him no votes. But it exposed them very early in their administration as liars and dirty dealers. And did significant damage to state the Democrats had pulled even, and set them back years.

Absolute garbage from the Biden administration, and pretty typical of all the ways a promising administration went off the rails fast...needlessly partisan and nasty, focused on something that the public doesn't care about, no clear objective to be gained, nothing to show for it, damaged credibility.

I should know better than to ask a question like that. I should have expected a lazy answer.

For instance, what offices were being voted on in the midterms, besides the US House races? Were there any statewide offices being voted on? In elections that were competitive, what was the turnout percentage, and was race a potential factor in the outcome?

And last night a GA. maggot House CON was booed and shot down at his town meeting. This prick won his district by 31 points and he didn't look or sound very happy. The full house never left up on him.

Let's not pretend you care about lying when you voted for Trump. I also fail to see the lie.

The overall number was up in 2024 vs 2020 in Georgia. That doesn't seem like a result you would expect from voters who were supposed to be suppressed.
You can’t tell anything from the total turnout.

As an example, total turnout could be up but the black or non-white vote could be flat or lower. Now, is that due to suppression, disinterest, a poor candidate, etc? Unclear.
