REO Speedwagon

I’ve seen REO Speedwagon a few times. They used to play the Dubuque County Fair annually. I think my ticket, funnel cake and lemonade from the Y’s man stand was about $12 circa 1992.

Concerts like this are worth it. 40 and 50 year old women put a lot off of effort into dolling themselves up one last time. It can be downhill fast from there.

Just wait until the county fair next summer

I think REO plays like 38 percent of all county fairs

Or, just wait a few more years and you can see them at a local casino for $25.

Are they worth $65 a ticket in 2022? A bunch of my friends are going and I keep seeing tickets for sale around $60-$70. Can't bring myself to pull the trigger though.
I remember in 1994 when the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" Tour hit and we were talking about how tickets being $50 was ridiculously expensive. Imagine that. Now REO costs more than that.

This is still my favorite REO album.

When I was running on a regular basis ( when I was younger) I thought this song was the best song to listen to when running. It
picked you up when you were tired.

It’s tough for me with bands from childhood/adolescence that have changed members as much as some have. For me, REO wouldn’t be REO without Gary Richrath. Are all the other originals still in? Even then, not the same for me without Gary, so I don’t think I’d see ‘em unless it were free.

Same with a lot of bands. My sister (no pic) saw Kansas a few years back and said they were fantastic. I’m sure they were, but they had Rich Williams and Phil Ehart and that was it. No Kerry Livgren? No Steve Walsh? No Robby Steinhardt? Come on, they were a fine band I’m sure but they weren’t Kansas.

Feel the same, REO wasn’t the same after Gary, Neal Doughty (Keyboards) just announced his retirement. Kevin is the only one left all though Bruce Hall (bass) has been around a long time.

No Alan Gratzer? I know, I know, (just) a drummer.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d gladly listen to the show and I’m sure I’d enjoy it, but I just wouldn’t say I saw REO Speedwagon. I’d say I saw Kevin Cronin.
