I was looking at different player profiles on Iowa’s website and getting myself amped for the season, so I thought I’d compile some of the various distinctions related to said returning players:

Jordan Bohannon: School record holder in most 3-pointers made in a career (284), breaking the record in three years. His 504 assists are sixth most in program history and 14 away from passing B.J. Armstrong for fifth all-time… 10th player in all of Division I basketball since 1992, to post at least 79 triples and 118 assists per season in each of his first three seasons. Led Big Ten in free throw percentage his sophomore and junior seasons, missing only seven free throws in 20 league games as a junior (64-of-71, .901) and two as a sophomore (37-of-39, .949)

CJ Fredrick: 46.1 percent shooting from 3-point range in 2019-20 is tops in a single-season by an Iowa freshman. One of only three players nationally — and only player from a major conference dating back to 1993 — with 65+ assists, 32 or fewer turnovers, and shoot 46 percent or better from 3-point range

Joe Wieskamp: One of only two Hawkeyes to amass more than 800 points, 350 rebounds, 75 assists, 50 steals, and 25 blocks through his sophomore season. Led the Big Ten in free throw shooting during the 2019-2020 season. As a freshman, led the team and finished second in the Big Ten in 3-point field goal percentage (.424, 59-of-139)

Connor McCaffery: in 2019-2020, led the NCAA in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.6; 124 assists, 27 turnovers). He is the only Division I player dating back to 1993, with 175+ points, 120+ assists, 120+ rebounds, 25+ steals, and 27 or fewer turnovers in a single-season… only player in the country with more than 120 assists and less than 30 turnovers… only player nationally to average at least six points, four rebounds, four assists, and less than one turnover per game

Joe Toussaint: In 2019-2020, led team in assists nine times and steals eight times. His 2.9 assists per game tied for the 16th most in the conference and the second most by Big Ten freshmen

Luka Garza:
Iowa Single-Season Scoring Record (740 points). One of three Big Ten players ever to amass 740+ points and 300+ rebounds in a season. First player since Ohio State’s Dennis Hopson in 1987 to post 20+ points in 16 straight Big Ten games. First player in program history to earn National Player of the Year recognition (2020)… third player in program history, and first since 1952, to earn consensus All-America first team distinction. one of only six Hawkeyes in school history with 1,550 points and 650 rebounds (only Hawkeye to accomplish the feat through his junior season). one of three Hawkeyes to amass more than 800 points and 350 rebounds through their sophomore season (Aaron White, Jess Settles)… one of two Hawkeyes to total 400 points and 200 rebounds as a freshman (Jess Settles). In 2019-2020, only player in the country to amass 700+ points, 300+ rebounds, 50+ blocks and 35+ 3-pointers; the last three players to accomplish the feat: Frank Kaminsky (2014-15); Michael Beasley (2007-08); Kevin Durant (2006-07). Averaged 26.7 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in 12 games against AP Top-25 teams… only two other players over the last 15 seasons averaged 25+ points and 10+ rebounds against ranked opponents — Kevin Durant (Texas, ‘06-’07) and Michael Beasley (Kansas State, ‘07-’08). Averaged 26.2 points and 9.7 rebounds in Big Ten play, becoming the first player to average at least 26 points in Big Ten play since Purdue’s Glenn Robinson in 1994 (31.1 ppg) and highest by a true center since Minnesota’s Tom Kondla (28.3 ppg) in 1967

Really great post, UNO. Wow, I'm sorry but the folks who are worried about
'too high' of expectations for this team.............well, sheesh.

There is a high, high, high ceiling for this group. A lot of skill and Hoops savvy in this group.
