Here is something I posted in the Lounge last week regarding the app. Hopefully it explains everything. The basic message is if you are experiencing issues with the app, move to the wireless site via your phone browser and bookmark it. The new boards were made with the wireless devices in mind and function better than the app.
I know there are some that are frustrated with the issues with the app. It was working fine once we got things situated with the new platform, but as Rivals makes minor adjustments on this platform, it also requires changes to the app.
I probably should go back and explain one quick thing since I believe a lot of folks think the app is a creation of Rivals. It's not. It's a third party system. Basically one of our other publishers had someone who created the app and then let some of us know about it and we paid out of our own pocket to have him do one for each individual site. Essentially, this is not a Rivals.com product, so when the app doesn't work properly it is not Rivals fault. And again, the app is not part of what you pay for here on this site. It was intended to be an added value and for the most part under our old operating system it worked well.
Anyway, now for i-phone folks, it's not allowing some to log-in. There are going to be a lot of on-going changes for Rivals (for the better) in the next six months or so as we complete the transition to a new and improved operating system. My suggestion is if you are on the app, move over to the browser for the time being until we get things settled down and operating smoothly. The app just isn't going to be fully operational all the time, every day. I realize some really enjoy the app and like using it, but with our new system the browser for Apple and Android users is going to be a much better experience, especially when it comes to reading our forums.
Once we get all of the work down with our new operating system by the end of 2015 (that is the goal), then a Rivals produced app is on the drawing board for 2016.
With that in mind, here is a handy and very easy guide on how to bookmark our wireless page so you can quickly jump to the message boards or content.
Here is how to do it on the iPhone:
First, visit the mobile site through Safari:
http://wireless.rivals.com/board.asp?SID=940&TeamCode=IOWA (This will get you to the forums page) You can always use this link as well: http://wireless.rivals.com
1. Tap the action button on the bottom (it is the square with the arrow pointing up)
2. On the popup menu, touch the “Add to Home Screen” option.
3. Change the name to suit you. Don’t choose a name that’s too long because it needs to fit under a standard icon. Touch the Add button when you’re ready.
4. When you return to the home screen, it will now show the new icon.
Here's how to do the same thing on Android:
Step one: Open the browser on your Android smartphone or tablet and go to
http://wireless.rivals.com/board.asp?SID=940&TeamCode=IOWA (This will get you to the main page for the forums) Or you can start here and get to the Iowa page: http://wireless.rivals.com
Step two: Hit the settings button – it’s three vertical dots, locating in the top right of the screen – from here press the start symbol.
Step three: Pressing the star symbol will bring you into the bookmarks menu. From here you can edit the web page’s name and select which bookmarks folder you want to save it into.
Step four: From here go back to the Browser settings menu, and then open the Bookmarks folder. From here locate your newly created bookmark and press and hold your finger on the bookmark you want to place on your home screen. Once you’ve done this you will see a new menu appear and in the list will be an option Add to Home screen. Press this option.
That’s it! All you need to do know is move the bookmark to where you want it on your home screen. This can be done by pressing + holding + dragging the your new bookmark icon.
Thank you for your patience. I know it gets frustrating at times, but please start to move over to the browser on your mobile device for a much better experience if you are using the app. If you have questions or comments, please send me an e-mail or a direct message here and I am happy to help.
