Riggins transferring to ISU

Saw this on the news a little bit ago, searched to make sure this wasn't a new thread. Riggins transferring to ISU to compete for the 165lb spot.

He was probably 3rd in line at 165, 174, and 184 for Iowa this year depending on where he certified at. I can't blame him for looking elsewhere to try to get more mat time. Best of luck unless he is wrestling a Hawk going forward. He had a pretty tall task last year wrestling up a couple weights, but stepped up for the team in duals.

Hope Riggins has a good year. You won't meet anyone who has anything negative to say about him. He's a respectful kid who gets good grades and works hard.
Riggins was thrown into a tough situation last year and represented himself very well; the results weren't there but it absolutely wasn't for lack of effort. Hoping for the best for him, and hoping he gets a chance to show what he has at a more natural weight.

IMO it’s compared to reasonable expectations for the program. Finishing in the top 10 is good and top 5 is great and about all you can expect.
But 7 years to do it? That's nearly 2 full recruiting cycles of some guys being there for four years.

I realize expectations are low, but cmon!

Needed a good laugh, so I headed to CF to get their opinion on Riggins.

I learned he was mistreated at Iowa because Brands didn't let him wrestle at his ideal weight, 165 last season.
I guess the fact that Riggins couldn't win either 165 or 174 to be the starter is immaterial?
Goddamn, those mofos are stupid.

Nobody ever accused those clowns of being too bright.

I think even the dumb ones have figured out that finishing higher than Iowa(by 1/2 pt IIRC) at Nattys last season was an anomaly.

And we won't even mention the last time they won the dual!
Hell, I think Reagan might have been President.

I’m sure he’s made mistakes.

7 years to do it is a lot better than never doing it. His energy has put a lot of juice back in the program. Hard to describe how dead of was under KJ.
