RIP Kenny Rogers

There's already a thread... but,
I met Kenny once. It was at an agent caravan (open house for agents) when one of his Buckhead houses was for sale. I had an elderly agent friend (Ron RIP) who I ran around with on these caravans and when Kenny saw him walk in, Kenny immediately walked over to us and gave us a personal tour and chatted our ears off the entire time. Two things I remember about the house, all of the toilets were black and he had the most massive TV I had ever seen on the wall in the master bedroom.

I never would have guessed when I first watched Lebowski that Kenny was part of that song
My mom and dad were at a party in the 60s. Kenny Rogers and a couple people were there. He had just gotten paid $1,000 for singing and he went out and blew it all on new clothes and whatnot and was showing off. This was before he was famous of course.
Anyway my mom told him he needed to get his head out of the clouds, save some money and get a job. My mom told Kenny Roger's to get a job! Lol

When I was in the Philippines last month I saw a ton of them, regret not going to one now.
My parents when to a movie in the 90s in CR. The crowd in theater accept for one gentleman and his lady friend. It was Kenny Rogers in town for a concert. My movie loved country music(Statler Bros were her favorite) so it was a nice surprise for her considering they rarely made time to go to movies

Met twice when I was working part time at the local arena. Once in the back hall--he asked if I liked his music. I told him, no, wasn't a fan of country music at all, but I liked this stuff with the First Edition. He laughed and said he doesn't get many requests for that anymore.
Bout 4 months later, I was seating him in the VIP section for an Eagles concert and he called me by name and asked if I still preferred his First Edition music. I was startled till his wife told me Kenny had a photographic memory and would do things like that all the time.

Sorry for sharing a memory of my deceased mother and her excitement of sitting next to one of her favorite artists

I get migraines and one of my medicines has barbiturates in it. I actually feel pretty messed up currently . So yeah, I will not be very coherent for the next few hours

A guy that used to live next door to my lake place is really good friends with Kenny's brother, who used to come out with some regularity; Kenny came out once while he was in the area on tour. I met him & chatted with him for a bit before he headed off for the show.
