Iowa State has thrown 4 different coaches at Kirk Ferentz, he's still 14-11 in the last 25 years, with at least 2 victories* against each coach in those 25 years.

6-1 vs current ISU coach, Matt Campbell, going into Saturday's game. And the only reason Campbell got that one victory is because Iowa's BF-led offense sucked so horribly bad & Iowa missed a game-tying FG at the end.

your thread idea is very good, but really this matchup lost its luster to me many years ago, at least 15 or so.

I would so much more like a home and home with Mizzou over two years or when scheduled, alternating with a home and home Kansas or KState, same with Colo, Arkansas, maybe Notre Dame. And once every 10 to 15 years play ISU in a home and home.

The different opponents will be refreshing

If I'm being completely honest, I almost hate this game.

Iowa gains nothing from it. They win, "meh, its expected". They lose? Take a big hit in the polls and with the 'experts'.

The game should be played only once every few years. Like you said, get some new blood on the schedule. Replace that open spot on the schedule with a P5 (or is it P4 or P3 now?) school, not another 'cupcake'.

It has turned into that....again. One only need look at how ISU players came back out of the locker room to pose with the trophy on the field in 2022. Definitely their super bowl.
