Believe it or not, neither one of us has been to Asheville. Staying in downtown at the AC Hotel because they have a rooftop restaurant / bar. I hear there are lots of breweries with outdoor areas to eat and imbibe. We've found some recommended (well known) hikes. We'll probably go to the Biltmore and wander the grounds. Dinner at Hemingways on Sunday for sunset.

What else you got?

Nantahala National Forest is great. Drive through there and into Gatlinburg. Stayed a night or two in Cherokee a few years back- really cool area.

Love Asheville. How long will you be there? Your itinerary is already pretty full.

Hit the New Begium brewery. I'm not a huge fan of their beers but the brewery is fantastic.

As for top breweries...Burial...Wicked Weed...the aforementioned Green Man...and Thirsty Monk are favorites. And if you like honey, there's a little place downtown called Bee Charmer that has some yummy stuff. And hit the old Woolworth right down the street from there. It's been turned into a huge gallery for local art.

https://www.hfburgeravl.com/ Fun place with killer grub basically next door to Wicked Weed on Biltmore Avenue. Limited hours these days. Start off with a John Lee Hooker.
https://www.frenchbroadchocolates.com/ Walk up Biltmore Avenue for a serious treat at Pack Square. Take some home to your buddies.
While at Pack Square, help Asheville decide how to rework the former Vance Monument obelisk. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attract...-Vance_Monument-Asheville_North_Carolina.html

Only open for takeout right now, over the river bridge from downtown, the Gypsy Queen will not dissappoint...
If you are walkers, stroll north to Woodfin Street, follow it to Central, on to a right on Chestnut to a left on Charlotte Street. https://www.mamacitastacotemple.com/ Taco Temple is a local treasure. Now you are set to walk up to the Grove Park Inn for a drink. Check out the huge pair of matching fire places in the lobby. https://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/asheville-grove-park
Another good stroll is along Kimberly Avenue and winding around to https://luellasbbq.com/
Good barbq and sides.

French Broad Chocolate is good but I like The Chocolate Fetish better. And it's right down the street from Woolworth's, too!

And a trip to Hole Doughnut is NOT to be missed. But get there early. They make the dough in the am and when they run out, they close.

Looks like they are closed as of October 2019. Hard to follow but it might now be World Coffee Cafe

Bummer. It’s been a couple years since I’ve been there. If you can get in the building it does have good views. If you kayak, you can rent them on the river in Asheville

About 40 minutes away is the Carl Sandburg home. But you can't see much because of Covid. From their website:

Beginning Monday, June 1, 2020, Carl Sandburg Home NHS will increase access to park trails, most grounds, and parking lots. With public health in mind, the following areas and services will remain closed until further notice: the house, barn and barnyard, restrooms, and other structures, water fountains, Sandburg Home tours, all volunteer shifts, and all summer public programs, festivals, plays, and other special events. The park shuttle will not be running. Bring enough water for your entire visit as water fountains will not be available. Keep in mind that goats will only be visible from the barnyard fence, as the entire barn area will remain closed.

I have nothing outside of that.

I second a visit to Hole for coffee and doughnuts. We spent a night in Asheville on the way back from Savannah once. I also recommend White Duck Taco Shop.

Do go to the Biltmore and just enjoy a cocktail in the lobby area. Absolutely gorgeous.

Why aren't you staying at home until the virus is under control? Even with masks there's a risk of infecting other people.

j/k. I hope you have a great time.
