Ron DeSantis is sending inflation relief checks after criticizing Biden stimulus

Well the initial complaint was that ANY stimulus creates inflation.

Inflation isn't going to distinguish the difference between targeted and non targeted stimulus. If you believe (as many Rs have stated) that stimulus causes inflation, then at this point ANY stimulus is going to add more money into the system and ramp up inflation.

Do you understand it now?
He's also missing the point that we Democrats are FOR what DeSantis did here. Anything that sends tax dollars back to people who need it or is good for the many and not just the top 1% we are for. This is anti "bootstraps" legislation. Again, this is a rare time when Republicans do this. Bins doesn't understand this. We're basically laughing at the Republicans on here because when the uncommon occasion when a Republican does something like this, even though we dems call for MORE of it, they argue that it's a good idea. If a democrat governor or president wanted to do this, it's a terrible socialistic idea. I'm for most anything that helps the many. I'm for most anything that sends my tax dollars back to me to make things cheaper for my family. I'm not for paying for the top 1%. I'm not for paying for health insurance that pays for some CEO to live in a Manhattan high rise, and his yacht.

That's the rub.

Explain it then Tom….what’s the point as you see it if not hypocrisy
I just did. The ONLY hypocrisy comes from your side of the aisle. Long story short, the Democrats on here agree with how DeSantis used this money. You guys agree only because DeSantis did it. We're for more of that.

I hope you are right and I have had a bad experience with those I have met. They are compensated quite well though.
Fair enough.

I have a friend who fostered 2 girls for over a year while the mom was in prison here in Florida. He was out of pocket for a lot of the expenses BUT he found out later you can actually negotiate your rate.

Bullshit…I’ve been complaining about untargeted massive stimulus from the get go. Complained about Trumps unneeded tax cut as well.

I think in Iowa it is 77K per child.

This is great and all but post 5 and everything you have said after this tells me you're missing it. Are you against what DeSantis did here? If you're not, then post #5 is as ridiculous as what several on here are trying to tell you it is. You may be more moderate than people like abby and northern, but I would be shocked if I am wrong at how they look at this. Republican does something = good. Democrat does same thing = bad. I'm not like that. If a Republican does something I agree with, I don't immediately say bad idea. Cons do it CONSTANTLY.

Post 5 was a joke Tom….good grief.

You and Huey realize capriciously grouping moderates in with MAGAs does not endear moderates to the idea of voting for Democrats, right?
Yeah, it's my fault bin will vote for Trump or DeSantis for president. I didn't say he was a MAGA. I'm saying he, just like his smart alec first post in this thread, shows he's far more in agreement on here with the far right on the board than moderate left. I'll let you know when I see him argue with abby, roy, northern, goldie, etc. Maybe he does.

I mean, I hear what you're saying, but I'm not taking the blame for someone voting for Trump or Ron because some message board posters are mean to him.

No really…not even close.
MAGA is built on Republicans being constant victims. That they are never responsible for their actions. That somebody else is to blame. This is exactly what you are doing here when you defend a MAGAt like DeSantis, refuse to see his hypocrisy, and instead try blaming it on the left for daring to point out his inconsistencies.

It’s the playbook. Disagree with team blue and you’re a racist or MAGAt or Fascist.

Gets old and tiresome
Works both ways. Disagree with Team Red and you are a lazy socialist.

That's kinda the point we are making. I literally have heard people IRL bitch about "all these lazy people getting money" and then DeSantis gives it out and they are for it. (not talking about you btw).

Yep. Again, I'm FOR what DeSantis did. Republicans are for it because DESANTIS did it.

I’m not asking you to take the blame. I’m asking you to think about how you and other libs come across. I don’t believe bins is that stupid, but there are plenty of voters out there who are. And stupid is not just a MAGA fad. It affects everyone on the political spectrum.

The point? There are plenty of people out there who would vote Team Blue. But when they’re constantly berated and dismissed as MAGAs for having a few different or nuanced views to Team Blue, guess which direction they tend to go?

Again, I hear you. I just don't agree. That would be no different than me voting democrat because I'm called a stupid gym teacher repeatedly by board Republicans. Ohhhhh, northern is mean to me. I'll show him. I won't be voting Republican now. I also don't think anything we say or do on this board is going to change even alleged moderates, like bins, minds. I don't think bins is an idiot. I just rarely agree with him, and I stand by what I said - he's closer to the far right than he is the moderate left.

Alright, I'm gonna address this.

I respect you and you are one of the better posters on here, but ... this is a dumb take by you. Here's why ... You seem to imply that it's a one way street with the "someone berated me, so I'm gonna vote Trump". First of all, you aren't giving @binsfeldcyhawk2 enough credit. He seems like a good poster from what I recall and he is much smarter than that. I disagree with him in this thread but I bet he votes due to policy and overall competence rather than feeling "slighted" by randos on a message board. I could be wrong though.

Secondly, Team Red has done just as much berating and personal insults (if not more) than Team Blue. Yet, they always seem to get a pass. I've yet to see anyone say what you just said the opposite way (if that makes sense).

Overall, your a top poster and I encourage you to give it some thought. You are a middle of the road guy and I respect that.

But Bins isn't one of those people to vote team blue. He never goes out of his way to critisize Rs. Nothing we can say will get him to vote Dem.

Further, Dems are more than willing to play ball with non MAGAt Rs. Just look at the fawning of Liz Cheney on here. Problem is that 90% of Rs aren't like Liz. They are MAGAts. Can you show me any posts by bins questioning his support of the right and saying he is seriously thinking about voting blue?

Disagree.

I disagree on bins being closer to the far right, but he can speak for himself.

Please tell me in your expert opinion what bins is then. @binsfeldcyhawk2, pay attention. You’re about to get educated on how you think. Brace yourself. Dis gonna be good. 😝
Bins is largely a right winger who doesn't hate weirdos. Basically the same thing as all "moderates" or "centrists" (from both parties or who say they aren't in a party). They love strictly means tested programs that help as few people as possible because it makes them feel good about hard work or whatever. But they don't like social conservatives who are mean to weirdos. Just hate social democracy more than they don't like social conservatives who are mean to weirdos. It doesn't actually affect them when social conservatives are mean to weirdos where it might mean employers might have to lift a finger to attract workers if they can't keep their knees on the necks of the workforce by lording things over them like access to healthcare.

TBF, unnecessary tax cuts and untargeted spending is like 60% of what the GOP has accomplished since they nominated Ronald Reagan.

I think bins is more reasonable than you give him credit for. And bear in mind you (and other libs) have vociferously attacked me when I’ve expressed nuanced views to the left, and I’ve only voted for Democrats since 2018.

I’m not wrong.

I voted for D’s for President in every election since 2008….

He's not a card carrying MAGAt, but he is dipping his toes in a bit. His post saying that we we are simply hating on DeSantis because he is a Republican is pure MAGAt.
I'm not even hating on DeSantis here. I agree with what he did and wish he would use tax dollars more this way. On occasion, a Republican will do something I agree with and I can say it. Sadly these moments are few and far between. It doesn't happen the other way around. I'm still waiting to see a Republican start a thread about Biden securing money from Mexico to help with border security. They HAVE to be happy about that development, right?

Nope, you’re correct, it is a two-way street. I think I let my personal bias get in the way because I’m so opposed to MAGA and the damage they’ve done to this country that I don’t want to see libs turn anyone away who’d vote against MAGA. Yep, I was using circular reasoning. Dumb take by me.

Good post. Tip of the cap to ya.
