It definitely feels weird when my mom passed away the Sunday after I watched with her Iowa's last win against Nebraska when I visited her on Thanksgiving weekend.
She and our family had ties both to Iowa where she grew up, and to Michigan State where we lived while my Dad and she worked there.
Seems like right after that game, the basketball and football teams both had the same kind of seasons for both schools. Have great seasons but completely mess up in post season (though MSU did a lot better in Big Ten conference championship games in both sports this year. I guess at least Iowa won at least one NCAA tournament game and didn't lose to a lower seeded team.
I kind of feel cursed with that and so many other flakey things going on this year too that I won't go in to.
