Heads up for those coming out for the game ...

* First forecasts are out for Friday and look fantastic ... sunny and 68. It's been abnormally chilly out here (lows expected in 30s this week) but should rebound somewhat by later week.

* HOWEVER, a gameday heads up ... the temperature drops quickly after dark out here this time of the year. It will get uncomfortably chilly by the second half if you're in a t-shirt/shorts.

(Of course, much of that is that I've gone soft after living out here too long.)

Can't wait ...

It's sort of funny, local california's always say, it's cold out here, bundle up.

But then Iowans get out there and 45 degrees seems hot.

Personally speaking, i am probably just gonna do shorts and a tshirt, might bring along a hoodie.

Probably won't seem hot this year with the way the weather has been so far this winter.

yeah, still, i imagine 65 will seem pretty darn warm.

Weather has been weird this year. Our family is in St. Louis and there have been several days recently when it has been warmer there than out here.

However, the issue with gameday isn't at kickoff when it is 65 ... it's by the 4th quarter when it will be dark and dropping through the 50s. My advice would be just to take a couple of layers in with you even though you won't need them at 1:30.

Anyway ... I'll stop with sounding like my grandmother (just wanted to give a friendly heads up). And, obviously not a bad problem to have right now.

Least all the hawk fans won't have a repeat of the last orange bowl with record lows that Miami had and coldest orange bowl ever.

You'll be sorry if you don't have a jacket, sweatshirt, or some such thing once the sun goes down. And it'll be beautiful in the sun, but it'll be cool in the shade. So Iowan or not, my advice is to be prepared rather than be sorry. Might as well be comfortable while you watch the Hawkeyes win their first Rose Bowl title since 1959.

LA gets cold in Dec/Jan. I'd have multiple layers on. Will be freezing by the end of game. Prob in upper 40's. I'm a wimp with the cold but can handle the heat as hot as it wants to get!

The Gator Bowl back in '83 was even worse. I'm no fan of the state of Florida, and the weather for Iowa's bowl games there has usually been absolutely miserable. Thank goodness the Hawkeyes in SoCal...but ya still better have that jacket.
