Saw the article earlier today but too lazy to link. Essentially said he had two sources from the conference office basically guarantee that the B1G is moving to 20 conference games either next season or the season after at the latest.

That means two less RPI killers so I'm all for it

It has pros/cons. Harder to get to magic number of wins. Does the better strength of schedule, rpi or whatever the metric is counter 1 or 2 less wins? Definitely makes for a better home schedule even if only 1 more home game. Closer to balanced scheduling the in BIG. It means each team plays home and away with 7 teams, home vs 3 and away vs 3.

How long have they been playing 18?

Since 74/75 with a break down to 16 for about a decade or a bit more.

Would think raising the B1G schedule to 20 games makes splitting the league schedule and getting 20 overall regular season wins a lock for the NCAA tourney.

I just hope that doesn't take games away from the Big East and ACC that we have enjoyed. I would still love to see more home and home series against some big teams from big conferences. Seems to be a little less plausible with 20 B1G games.

I seriously doubt 2 additional B1G games will result in two less games against 300+ RPI teams

Result of this is it virtually eliminates any RPI concerns once we play 20 in conference.

The more conference games the better, IMHO. I remember the days when we played a true round robin schedule to determine the conference champion. Of course, due to league expansion, those days are long gone and extremely unlikely to ever return.

I would like to see a true round robin conference schedule- with 26 conference games the fans will see more meaningful home games and I believe it will prepare Iowa better for the NCAA tournament.

The more B1G games, the better. A true round robin schedule won't happen again, but more balanced schedules with more meaningful games is a win for everyone IMO. I too hope that it doesn't stop the ACC and Big East challenges.

I know that there are practical limits, but is there an NCAA maximum on the number of games that teams are allowed to play?

I assume that includes two intra-squad games?

If I had my dream come true schedule. Round Robin with 26 games. Iowa State (I guess), and B1G vs, ACC, Big East, B12 and SEC challenges. Regarding years we don't play in the challenges, try not to slip down too far in talent.
