Secretary of State Marco Rubio has invoked “emergency authorities” to bypass Congress and send $4 billion in weapons to Israel, the second time in a month that the Trump administration has skirted the process of congressional approval for sending arms to the country.
Mr. Rubio did not explain in a statement announcing the decision on Saturday why he was using an emergency authority. He said only that the Trump administration would “continue to use all available tools to fulfill America’s longstanding commitment to Israel’s security, including means to counter security threats.”
State Department officials told the two congressional committees in the House and Senate that review foreign weapons sales about the emergency declaration on Friday. At least one congressional official privately expressed alarm at the bypassing of the review.
Several of the cases of munitions to be sent to Israel were undergoing review in Congress. But one large case worth about $2 billion had not been sent by the State Department to Congress for review, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk candidly about sensitive weapons deals.

The Pentagon announced details of that sale to Israel on Friday. The announcement lists several possible mixes of bombs that would be delivered, including more than 35,000 2,000-pound bombs.

All day long every day....the sky is falling in the flat heads of HROT libtards! All day...........every day.....

It’s going to be interesting to see how many posters are all of a sudden opposed to this practice.
Good point. I remember you pounding your fist on the collective table of HBOT and demanding this practice stop under previous presidents.
It does beg the question, why now? Should be a snap for this Congress and this administration to get an aid package through swiftly given their heated support when college kids gathered by the dozens on college campuses last year to protest the war in Gaza.

Why doesn’t Bibi want peace?
Bibi has depended on conflict his entire political career. The second there is a lasting cease fire and peace deal he will be thrown out of office. He has already tinkered with his coalition to cling to office. His plans for Gaza and the West Bank are not popular with the majority of Israeli voters. He needs the specter of violence to keep them supportive.

Can you link some of the threads where you fellas criticized Biden for using “emergency authorities” to bypass Congress and send weapons and military supplies to Israel on multiple occasions?
Can you link to some of the threads where they are complaining about this action? Ok, it hasn't been that long so maybe that isn't a fair question. I'm sure you will let us all know if it happens though.

That’s why I said it will be interesting to see how many posters do.

I don't know how many people on these boards were doing it, but there were plenty of people on the far left criticizing Biden for giving arms to Israel. It's actually a significant contributor to why Democrats lost so there certainly are people on the left who can criticize this. But my reaction to them is still the same. We have treaty obligations and if they didn't want to get the shit blown out of them then they shouldn't have picked a fight in the first place.

The only criticism I have of this specific action by Rubio is if we are in such dire straights that we need to self destruct the entire economy to save money, then these aren't expenditures we can be making. Especially for an administration who campaigned heavily on stopping all aid to other countries. As it turns out, its all aid to other countries that helps poor people.
