Marco Rubio took aim at Donald Trump’s manhood during a rally Friday morning, portraying the GOP front-runner as a coward and suggesting he may have wet himself during Thursday night's presidential debate.

"He called me Mr. Meltdown. Let me tell you something, last night during two of the debates, he went backstage, he was having a meltdown," Rubio said in Dallas.

"First, he had this little makeup thing applying makeup around his mustache because he had one of those sweat mustaches. Then, he he asked for a full length mirror … maybe to make sure his pants weren’t wet."

The line came as Rubio took out his cellphone and began to read Trump's tweets from stage. Noting that some had misspellings, he cracked that the billionaire businessman "must have hired a foreign worker to do his own tweets."

He chided Trump for trying to portray himself as a "tough guy" and said voters shouldn’t be fooled.

"This is a con-job where he is going to Americans who are struggling, Americans who are hurting, and he’s implying, 'I'm fighting for you' because he’s a tough guy. A tough guy? This guy inherited $200 million, he’s never faced any struggle," Rubio said.

“The other day, he told somebody, a protestor, 'I'm going to punch you in the face.' Donald Trump has never punched anyone else in the face. Donald Trump was the first guy to beg for Secret Service protection.”

The attacks come the morning after a surprisingly contentious debate, hosted in Houston by CNN, that largely pitted the Florida senator against Trump in a series of attacks. The GOP race pivots to Super Tuesday in just days, when one-quarter of the race's total GOP delegates are up for grabs.

Wow - see he also went onto the majors and called The Donald a "con artist", too. I hope he has enough time to make an impression here. It's pretty interesting that he's talking about the backstage stuff - that's definitely not he image Trump wants out there.

Rubio looked stupid reading the tweets. He read the "choker" tweet and pronounced it chocker. He said trump must have meant choker, but he spelled it c-h-o-k-e-r. Trump actually spelled it right.

Rubio is just using Trump's talking points. I don't blame Rubio, with his approval ratings in the tank. He obviously had no shot at winning re-election in Florida, so he has to do what he can to win the nomination.

Rubio's approval rating is at 38 with 51 disapproving, down from 41 with 44 disapproving a few months ago. It took me a while to figure out why he decided not to run for re-election. However, after seeing these numbers it makes sense. He knew his numbers were in the tank and he can't win.

Trump, in his talk with the Media with Christie, said of Rubio, "Once a choker, always a choker." Come to think of it, I wonder if that's why he dumped his last wife...

Do you have a source for this?

This is the most recent I can find:

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows 57 percent of 1,093 voters said they approve of the job Rubio is doing as senator. It is the highest rating Rubio has ever had from the polling organization, which regularly polls Florida.

In April of this year, 54 percent approved of how Rubio was doing his job – tying a previous record high he last enjoyed in 2012.

Rubio’s current 57 percent approval rating is about 8 percentage points higher than he had in a Quinnipiac Poll and 10 percentage points up from their February poll.

And it is light years ahead of where he was at the start of his tenure in the Senate. In February 2011, just 42 percent approved of Rubio’s performance, though he had only been in office for a month at that point.

Rubio’s approval rating is well ahead of both Gov. Rick Scott, a Republican, and Sen. Bill Nelson, a Democrat. Both had an approval rating of 45 percent in the latest Quinnipiac Poll.

He's relying on the PPP results. PPP is a liberal polling firm that has been proven to have some pretty odd results at times. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. I think it's best to wait until we've seen several polls instead of relying on just one to make a broad statement. For example, if we average your poll with the PPP poll, it gives a decidedly different look than just using one or the other.

Yeah he did and changed it. Rubio must have practiced reading the old tweet and read the updated tweet live. Trump beats him again.

Remember, Rubio is representing the Republican establishment now that Bush is out.
Trump is fighting the GOP establishment......the old farts of the party. Soon they'll have to realize [and accept] that Trump will be the GOP candidate, as chosen by the people.
So, Trump is challenging and apparently winning control of the party.
IMO,If the old GOP establishment destroy Trump, they may also diminish their chances
of winning the presidental election.

Marco just got 15 minutes for free on MSNBC and he used it well. Hammered Trump over the fake university and bankruptcies. Talked about how creditors essentially put him on an allowance during one of the bankruptcies. Called him a con artist.
That is very effective.

Rubio sounds absolutely childish making comments like that.

Trump could probably get away with it. Rubio sounds like a spoiled brat.

"Your mother wears combat boots, nyah, nyah, nyah."

It may play well to his followers but shouldn't to serious people.

Then again, Rubio is the great white hope of the RNC and MSM - or should that be great Hispanic hope?

The RNC and MSM have been the kiss of death to previous candidates they liked - Bush and Fiorina come to mind.

The only candidate the MSM has supported who has benefitted is Hillary. Maybe if they want to get rid of Trump they should start praising him.

Rubio's job now is to take Trump down enough that Rubio wins Florida, Kasich wins Ohio and the other winner take all states are split somewhat evenly. The party needs to keep Trump from wrapping this up before the convention. They need to make him bleed like Leonidas did to Xerxes in 300. Show Trump is mortal. Rubio may be sacrificing himself, as the party could go with someone else as the nominee, but his work will be remembered and rewarded. The GOP leadership is playing a difficult hand now, but this is all that is left to try.
