IIRC, they originally moved the kickoff line to have more touchbacks and thus fewer opportunities for runbacks, which are dangerous. As a sop, they let the receiving team start five yards farther up the field. Punt returns aren't considered as dangerous.I always assumed that changing the kickoff into end zone coming out to the 25 yd. line had to with creating more offense? if so, why is a punt still just brought out to the 20??
