I have no inside information. But one would think that for a rumor to have any kind of traction it needs to have more than one source. At least one source that isn't aging rapidly.

Personally, I hope Christian as well as ALL the current Hawkeyes stay. I think we have enough talent to challenge about anyone and if guys are willing to assume a role for about ten minutes a game? Well, I recall one Eric May becoming a valuable role guy his senior year!

Has anyone seen any confirmation on this supposed transfer?

Heard about it on twitter but I haven't seen any official source.

I don't want anyone to leave but I would be stunned if no one did. Simply too many guys coming back and not enough minutes to go around.

My Brothers GF knows CW's Mom's Aunts 2nd cousin and she said he's staying put.

Just kidding, I have no idea if he's staying or leaving.

I assume Fran will let the players make the announcement as opposed to the U of Iowa releasing anything.

The U of I would put out a statement, if anything happens...

It'll be after the weekend if there is any transfer(s) . Fran is at the Final Four with Jok.

Whoa Nelly. The rumor only hit this board yesterday morning. Nothing will happen over the weekend.

The irony of recruiting better players is that your roster retention gets worse. With the amount of D1 programs out there now...opportunities for kids to move on and be the "dude" are there. It is a business and the general public or fan just do not understand that. Good coaches will encourage a kid that won't fit to move on....most people think that is a bad deal. To me I would rather be given that opportunity elsewhere than have the false hope.

CW can probably be that "dude" somewhere else. He is just a disconnected basketball player most of the time he is out there...the back injury did not help him out much either.

We're still in the period where things can shake out. Don't like the speculation, but it's part of the deal. I understand players who want to move on if they feel there is a better situation for them, also understand coaches who want to have frank discussions with players about future playing time.

Things shook out.

It's been my experience if a rumor doesn't gain traction in the first 24 hours...and in this case it lost traction when a pundit pulled a tweet...then the rumor is probably created by one liar. And I'd like to find that person and kick him right in the place where he doesn't have what I'd like to kick.

Dan, I don't understand why you would single out victims of appendicitis like this, and why you would have a desire to kick someone in the appendix in the first place?

In fairness, it might not have been created by a liar. It may have been started by someone who jumped to conclusions. Maybe Williams told some friends he was thinking about leaving or something and someone was dying to be the first to post about it on twitter...

It will be gold if he does leave though....all the coaching experts jacking up the staff for not being able to retain a guy that should of been starting in the first place.

Tom K was just on kxno and said there had been some rumblings attributed to teammates.....those were shot down and CW now says he's staying.

So everyone is staying? Or Did he mention anything about any others that may be leaving?

The equal minutes thing? Divide by 13 instead of 14 if somebody gets kicked.

I'm kicking somebody right in the tonsils. ;) If I have to sneak up on 'em while they're sleeping, cause they're younger and bigger and tougher, than I'll sneak up on 'em.

Touch my stuff, I'll kill ya.
Touch me, I'll kill ya.

Warren Oates was a great actor. Played Muff Potter in the 70's musical version of "Tom Sawyer" filmed in Arrow Rock, Missouri which is just down the road from Marshal, Mo where I went to college and worked. A lot of locals had bit parts in the movie and one of them was an English Professor from MVC, Page Williams. Became great friends with her. She played the hooker that testified in Muff's trial for murder. Page said he was just about like the character he played, usually drunk and extremely amiable.

He played many parts in his career, but I'll always remember him as "Uncle" Hulka, our big toe, from Stripes. He was the perfect counterpoint to Murray's wise-ass slacker John Winger.

Another good movie. One of the best renditions of the life of bandit John Dillinger was done by him he was cool in the Kirk Douglas vehicle "There was a Crooked Man". Just saw him last night in a Lee Van Cleef oater called something like "Baquero(sp). Bad movie but Warren was his usual stellar self. A great, great character actor out of the Charles Durning, Robert Loggia, Ned Beaty mold.

Or as Achmed the dead terrorist says: "I KEEEL youuuuu"
(quote from Jeff Durham - ventriloquist - for those who don't know this)

Turns out the guy who first tweeted it out just made it up. Then what really gave it traction was the guy from Hawkeye Heaven posted "he had been hearing a rumor"...... Everyone apparently thought that gave it some sort of credibility.

Pretty obvious that the guy on twitter read this thread, but it was Levi (Hawkeye heaven) that did the damage. Guy is a complete joke. Basically rips off beat writers and repeat message board rumors. Rap sheet is impressive too.

Yeah, that guy will take stories, photos everything from twitter and then posts it like it is real time. He blocked me on Twitter for calling him out on a BS thing he posted. The only reason I still follow the page on Facebook is to read the comments from idiots on there.

Love your name. That is exactly how Kornheiser on PTI pronounced it when quizzing Wilbon about Iowa football. Clueless nitwits.

There is nothing written in stone where a player has to declare a transfer in April..I'm sure Fran would love to see all of the returning players go with their teammates & coaches in their August overseas trip.

I'm thinking maybe the Europe trip is keeping guys with questionable minutes expectations onboard for this year.

I hope he stays, forgets he was ever a PG and move to a wing
