Russia about to attack Ukraine

Way to go, Brandon. Take on China and Russia at the same time. Brilliant!
What the Chinese have said:

If US provokes China or Russia, the other won’t be indifferent
By

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on January 27 had a phone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the latter's request. Judging from the briefings from both sides and various comments, Wang overwhelmed Blinken. The initial statement released by the US did not mention so-called "human rights," Hong Kong or Xinjiang, while the statement issued by China showed that Wang criticized the US for still sticking with erroneous words and deeds related to China and demanded that the US should stop interfering in the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, stop playing with fire on the Taiwan question, and stop creating various anti-China "small cliques."
The Ukraine crisis appeared to be the focus of the conversation. Wang called on all parties to remain calm and pointed out that Russia's legitimate security concerns should be taken seriously and addressed. This sentence has been widely quoted by US and Western media, as if a rare nerve was touched. They believe it's a symbol of "deepening relations" between China and Russia.
But doesn't Russia have legitimate security concerns in East Europe? As far as I'm concerned, the Ukraine crisis contains two aspects: first, Russia-Ukraine dispute; second, a serious confrontation among all relevant parties caused by the US and NATO's strategic suppression of Russia. The eastward expansion of NATO is so unnerving to Russia, almost pushing Moscow into a corner. Russia demanded that NATO, which is hostile to Moscow, not absorb former Soviet republic Ukraine and not deploy troops on Russia's border. The request is within reason.
The US is strategically squeezing China and Russia at the same time. It's arrogant. It is pushing China and Russia together to strike back. Russia has suffered more pressure from the US. How it will resolve disputes with Ukraine is one thing. But when it comes to resisting a US crackdown, Russia is not alone. Most of the Chinese people will support it and are willing to see the Chinese government assist Russia in this aspect. Because we know well that if Russia is crushed by the US, this will bring no good to China at all. China and Russia have a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination. They are not empty words.
Given a "back-to-back" relationship between China and Russia, the US cannot do anything with the two great powers. That Russia and China are "not allies, but better than allies" has become an official statement. Let Americans carefully mull over the connotation of this expression. If it provokes either China or Russia, the other one will not be indifferent. Washington should expect this in the future.

Apparently if you question the official narrative here you're a Russian troll.
Yup. They're so propagandized to see that dissent is verboten in the MSM. A light should go off in their head stat. In 2017, Stephen Cohen (Professor Emeritus at 2 elite universities in Russian studies) couldn't get his op-eds published in the WSJ or NYT after being a regular contributor for decades. There weren't more than 4 people in this country with as much knowledge on the topic as he before his passing in September. The neocons have taken over both parties and they are the most vile people walking the planet.

It's quite disheartening the level of ignorance concerning so many things these days.

Has Russia invaded yet? Is it imminent yet? It really seems the US Government is pushing hard for war.

Meanwhile, the US southern border is a mess.

Today was a good day for the U.S. military hammer
Searching for nails in the Middle East and Russia — haven’t we seen this movie before?

This morning, the Pentagon announced plans to escalate U.S. military involvement in two different international conflicts: the Saudi-led war in Yemen, and the Ukraine crisis.

President Biden is deploying 3,000 troops to NATO partners in Eastern Europe, and the Pentagon is sending additional fighter jets and a missile destroyer to the UAE.

Simultaneously escalating U.S. military involvement in two different conflicts halfway around the world is a self-evidently terrible idea — but don’t just take my word for it! As QI expert Annelle Sheline explains, escalating U.S. military involvement in Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen is likely to exacerbate tensions and forestall efforts to reach a peaceful resolution to a war that has led to the deaths of nearly 400,000 Yemeni civilians. And as QI expert Anatol Lieven writes, putting 3,000 U.S. troops in Eastern Europe is “empty posturing” that’s likely to further inflame tensions with Russia when productive diplomacy is desperately needed.

At best, escalating the U.S. military’s involvement in these conflicts will do little to resolve them; at worst, increased U.S. involvement risks dramatic escalations that could quickly spiral out of our control. So why the hell are we escalating anyway — despite the protestations of Republican and Democratic lawmakers and the American people’s clear preference for vigorous diplomacy, not war?

Blame it on America’s hyper-militarized foreign policy. Despite decades of failed military adventures, most American leaders still reflexively attempt to solve every problem, everywhere, with a military solution. As the adage goes, when you’ve got a hammer, everything looks like a nail — and America’s $778 billion defense budget is one big, expensive hammer.

This year, America will spend more than twelve times as much on warfighting as we do on diplomacy. It’s no wonder that our foreign policy apparatus constantly tilts toward war: the only possible way to justify this massive, bloated defense budget is by using it. This requires inflating the threats America faces and “solving them” through the projection of military force — regardless of if doing so actually addresses the problem at hand.

After all, if we weren’t constantly engaging in new military conflicts, the American people (and their representatives in Congress) might start asking some difficult questions about why our government spent more than a trillion dollars building a plane that can’t seem to fly while real threats to American safety — like COVID-19, climate change, or lack of access to clean water — go largely unaddressed.

As my colleague Bill Hartung says, “Part of the military’s job is to perpetuate itself.” And so President Biden sends new planes and ships into a war that, a year ago, he pledged to end, and we station new troops on the edges of a conflict with a rival nuclear-armed power — despite history’s clear and dangerous lesson that it’s terribly easy to stumble our way into war.

Trying to solve every problem through military force will inevitably lead to yet another disaster — as it did in Iraq, Libya, Vietnam, and beyond. And while the innocent civilians caught up in America’s wars of choice will likely pay the steepest price, Americans themselves will continue to pay dearly for our over-militarized foreign policy, too; as Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.”

Russia Captures No. 2 Rank Among Foreign Oil Suppliers to U.S.

  • American refiners never before bought so much Russian output
  • Obscure products like Mazut 100 are in high demand in U.S.

Russia is supplying more oil to the U.S. than any other foreign producer aside from Canada as American refiners scour the globe for gasoline-rich feedstocks to feed surging motor-fuel demand.
U.S. imports of crude and refined petroleum products from its former Cold War adversary surged 23% in May to 844,000 barrels a day from the prior month, government data showed. Mexico was edged out of the No. 2 spot as its shipments to its northern neighbor rose by less than 3%.

This is a lot of spam posting from Nat. For what it's worth, I hope he's right. I hope that this whole thing is nothing more than a US led missinformation campaign to....who knows what the goal would be. But if it turns out there is no war, and Russia is just massing 100k troops on the boarder because that's how they say hello to the people of Ukraine, that would be wonderful. The world will be a lot safer place.

Explains a lot:

Army of Ukraine lobbyists behind unprecedented Washington blitz
An analysis of FARA filings shows they contacted members of Congress and others over 10,000 times.
FEBRUARY 11, 2022

As tensions with Russia reach a boiling point, lobbyists from Ukraine are working feverishly to shape the U.S. response. Firms working for Ukrainian interests have inundated congressional offices, think tanks, and journalists with more than 10,000 messages and meetings in 2021, according to an analysis of Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA, filings for a forthcoming report from the Quincy Institute. To put this extraordinary campaign into perspective, the Saudi lobbyknown for being one of the largest foreign lobbies in D.C. — reported 2,834 contacts, barely a quarter of what Ukraine’s agents have done.

Russia has positioned more than 100,000 troops on Ukraine’s border and, just yesterday, it began conducting military drills with Belarus on Ukraine’s border in what some fear could be the lead-up to an invasion. As the number of Russian troops on Ukraine’s border has grown, so too have the efforts of Ukraine’s agents in the United States to secure U.S. and NATO military support.

More specifically, the far-reaching campaign has been focused on stopping the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which Ukrainian officials argue is as much of a threat to their security as Russian troops. If completed, the pipeline would allow Russia to export natural gas directly to Germany and the rest of Europe, jeopardizing the billions Ukraine currently earns from transiting Russian gas to Europe.

Congress has been the primary target of Ukraine’s agents, with over 300 House and Senate staff and members of Congress on the receiving end of more than 8,000 emails, phone calls, and meetings with Ukraine’s lobbyists. Agents representing the Ukrainian Federation of Employers of the Oil and Gas Industry, or UFEOGI, the largest association of energy companies in Ukraine, have flooded Capitol Hill with headlines like “Ukrainians call on U.S. Senate to sanction Putin’s pipeline weapon,” and others claiming “Moscow regards concessions as a sign of weakness.”

The lobbyists seem to have found a friendly ear in Senate Republicans, in particular Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). In January, they distributed a tweet from the prime minister of Ukraine that said Nord Stream 2 is “no less an existential threat to our security & democracy than Russian troops on our border.” The sentiment was echoed, nearly verbatim, two days later by Cruz, who said he was hoping to “lift the existential threat posed by Nord Stream 2.”

The Ultimate End of NATO

February 11, 2022

Russia’s goal is not to destroy Ukraine—this could be accomplished at any time. Rather, the goal of Russia is to destroy NATO by exposing its impotence, writes Scott Ritter.

Special to Consortium News

In the quiet fields outside the sleepy college town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, sits a bronze monument, in the form of an open book. Known as the “High-Water Mark of the Rebellion” monument, it contains the identities of the various military formations that, in the afternoon of July 3, 1863, fought a life and death struggle on and around the soil where the monument is set.

Here, some 12,500 men under the command of Confederate Lieutenant General James Longstreet, formed into three divisions, and launched a frontal assault on some 10,000 entrenched Union troops commanded by Major General Winfield Scott Hancock.

While around 1,500 confederates managed to pierce the Union line, they were quickly surrounded and compelled to either surrender or die. It is at this point on the battlefield that the “High-Water” monument is located, commemorating what has become to be known as “Pickett’s Charge,” named after one of the division commanders who participated in the battle.

The Confederate Army was able to withdraw from the Gettysburg battlefield in good order to continue to fight for nearly two more years, before surrendering. But it never recovered from the disaster that was Pickett’s Charge. It was truly the High-Water Mark of the Rebellion.

A Messy History

Students of history might be experiencing what Yogi Berra once famously called “Déjà vu all over again” when examining the frenetic activities undertaken by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) today, as it responds to what it alleges is a provocative Russian military buildup along the Russian-Ukrainian border.

The Trans-Atlantic alliance is a strange amalgam of political, economic, and military belief systems cloaking a mass of 30 nations who manage the day-to-day activities of their organization through a consensus-based, collective decision-making process that is as unwieldy as it is inefficient.

Originally formed as a collective of 12 nations united by the desire, as the first secretary-general of NATO, Lord Ismay, once quipped, “to keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down”, the Trans-Atlantic alliance was, first and foremost, a club comprised of nations which had two things in common—a shared belief in the primacy of democratic governance, and a desire to be protected under the umbrella of American military power.

The fear mongering never ends. JFC

The Washington Post reported on October 30 that a “buildup” of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border concerned US and European officials.[1] The report suggested that the Russian deployments are similar to those carried out on Ukraine’s border in March-April 2021. Open-source reporting does not support the assessment that Russia has moved any additional forces closer to the Ukrainian border or that a Russian offensive against Ukraine is imminent, however. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense stated on November 1 it has not observed any transfers of Russian units, weapons, or equipment to the Ukrainian border.[2]

  • Elements of Russia’s 41st CAA redeployed from temporary positions near Voronezh (northeast of Ukraine) to permanent basing facilities in Yelnya (east of Belarus) in late October. Open source satellite imagery confirmed that the elements of the 41st CAA had left Voronezh by October 27 and arrived at permanent Russian bases in Yelnya by October 31.[3] Four battalion tactical groups and combat support elements from the 41st CAA, the equivalent of a small division, deployed to Voronezh from their permanent base in Novosibirsk, in the Russian interior, in April 2021.[4] The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed at the time that this deployment would support Russia’s Zapad-2021 military exercise, though the 41st CAA did not participate in the main Zapad exercises from September 10-16.[5]
  • An unidentified Iskander ballistic missile battalion, likely part of the 41st CAA’s assets that deployed to Voronezh, was spotted traveling through Bryansk.[6] Open-source imagery of Russian bases in Bryansk taken on November 1 did not show the Iskander battalion, and its final destination is currently unknown, though it is likely redeploying to Yelnya.
  • Elements of the 1st Guards Tank Army began major training exercises on October 27. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on October 27 that about 25 “subdivisions” (подразделение [podrazdelenie], a Russian word indicating units at the battalion echelon or lower) of the 1st Guards Tank Army, based east of Moscow, began exercises to earn the honorary title of “shock” units.[7]

Good call. Totally were training.

Of all the presidents in my life I least want to go to war with it is Joe Biden. Even Obama had his capacities and Trump was such a dumb **** he would have sent over every ****ing bomb we owned to prove a small dick point.

God help us if we go to war with Russia/china during this administration.
So why you posting today Biden is a pussy and it’s his fault Ukraine is being invaded by Russia? Can’t have it both ways. You either supported getting US troops going in and today you get to bitch at Biden at being weak… or you do not and you can blame Putin and support our country uniting behind our president, the US and NATO about what is taking place due to a madman running Russia.

C’mon with the prediction timeframe, Chistrodamus!

You’re fear mongering some crap about something you read online about places you couldn’t even find on a map.

At what point does your fear mongering about Russia invading upon Merkel’s exit become another bogus prediction?

How many such bogus predictions would we need to string together to get you to consider, ‘what if instead of being informed, you’re being manipulated by fear?’
Bump

What is in Country 404 that R could possibly want?

Since NATO has, in violation of an agreement, swallowed up 13 former Warsaw Pact members and is now at R's doorstep, shouldn't we be asking when does NATO attack Russia?

You dumb douchebag. Please come back and eat shit for this.

America's 2nd largest importer of oil is Russia. Their Ural grade is heavy, good for diesels. Venezuela has it, but, we have sanctioned them to death...literally.
You seem to know a lot about the Urals. Is that where you're hiding? Mountain cabin. Bad Wifi. I get it.
